Is this a Real/Former player? I need to know the man behind the mustache.

I was just visiting Cleveland for work and grabbed a drink at Harry Buffalo. This legend popped up on an advertising screen, but my reverse image searches aren’t turning up who it is. That great white handlebar mustache is burned into my brain.

  1. This guy was the result of hitting the Randomize button in Madden and accepting the results. Add to it his generic af name

  2. This dude should have been a businessman. One of the most obscure players, pun intended, but we still remember him fondly and are sharing his image. I don’t see Chris Gardocki getting memed anytime soon. I wonder if he was tongue in cheek with everything and just embraced the whackyness or if he was no nonsense serious.

  3. Was not expecting to see that he played in 2007. Woulda guessed late ‘70s lol.

  4. Was he the last player to have the single bar facemask? I think I remember him being grand-fathered in or something. I love it. It says, “Oh… I HAVE to have facemask??? How’s this, dick wads!”

  5. A Hairy Buffalo was an alcoholic concoction back when I was in college in the 70’s. Put a clean trash bag in a trash can, pour whatever you brought into the can, and have a party.

  6. I remember we signed him mid season after Dave Zastudil got injured, and when his jersey said “Player 1”, my assumption was that we didn’t have time to get his name plate sewn on so they just went with a generic jersey they had laying around the lockers.

  7. The fun thing about that facemask was how he would leave it pulled down to be able to see better and then raise it to cover the kick haha

  8. I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet, but he was the last NFL player ever to wear the single bar face mask

  9. It’s Scott player he was the last player allowed to use that type of face mask I believe

  10. Scott Player was neither a “real” nor a “former” player.

Scott Player is only “real” to the extent Zeus or Poseidon are “real.” Scotty Player was an all powerful deity who assumed human form so Browns fans could see pure power for one shining moment.

He is not a “former” player bc i reality Scott Player is everything and nothing all at once. He is the current, past and future Browns all at once.

Welcome to the church of Scott Player. You are welcome here. Scott Player welcomes all.

  11. Hollywood Hogan kicked under the name Scott Player for well over a decade. He retired when they banned the one bar facemask and he could no longer “show off my amazing face”
