  1. worth it. just shows you how important it is to make a run with a ton of rookie players on cheap contracts

  2. Like everyone says, you’ve just gotta pay him.

Penei Sewell is the key for a lot of what we do. Everyone remembers his catch, but there’s so many instances where you’ll see a Penei block spur something crazy.

  3. Elite Tackles like Sewell don’t come around too often. When the time comes, give him his money.

  4. Sewell could easily average $30m a year in his extension.

Also the upper end AAV of the deal listed in this graphic is less that what Decker is set to be paid the next 2 years. 🤷

  5. This is the reason I don’t think the lions are going to make a splash in free agency or a trade. This current roster is going to cost a fortune soon.

But, that’s the price of getting good.

  6. Extend him as soon as he’s eligible before rates go up more. He’s getting top of the market.

The real challenge is Jonah and figuring where he fits between 12-16M AAV

  7. To be fair you’re actually getting an elite OL and a reserve TE in one player. So it’s rly a bargain.

  8. Give Sewell a 10 year contract. 10 year 250M. 100M guaranteed. That 25M a year might seem excessive at first but it will be considered a bargain in about 5 years.

  9. Bro we couldn’t get rid of him. Him in another uniform would just be wrong. Him and Amon Ra need to be here for the long run.

  10. We got him on his rookie deal for another three years

This conversation is a bit early

The season can’t start soon enough

  11. There’s 4 positions worth reallyyyy spending…. OT, pass rusher, QB, and WR.

We will absolutely have to pay Penei and Hutch big bucks, I’m hoping that Goff and ARSB won’t have to be market breakers.

  12. I remember the scouting reports on Sewell coming out of college commonly described him as a generational talent (and I remember the video of Brad and Dan gushing with joy once he was officially available to be drafted by Lions) and personally he has not disappointed so far. If he continues to shine on the line, then hey, pay the man and make him a franchise asset.
