  1. We went toe to toe with the Bills and Eagles last year. Too many years used to losing has us thinking we cant win this game. But it is true that it is the hardest game on the schedule

  2. We *can* win this. This will also be the best team MCDC’s Lions have ever faced (including the 21 Rams and the 22 Eagles). I’m not stressing if we lose, but I’ll be thrilled if we win.

  3. Easily the hardest game on our schedule but I think it should be close. Chiefs are a great team but you’re getting them early and they do have a tendency to let teams hang around. Mahomes usually gets it done at the end but I think Lions have a good chance

  4. Yeah, I’m not sure many, if any, are counting it as a W. And if they are, that’s complete nonsense. So I agree with the tweet. But most of us are just stoked and over the moon that it’s a realistic, actual shot here. Like our brain isn’t automatically going to an L, and that’s exciting lol

  5. We gonna be so loud. Honestly as long as we are competitive I’m cool. My bet was with house money so that makes it even better.

  6. W would be cool but as long as the game is decently competitive, that’s all that matters for this one.

  7. While I agree we are heavy underdogs and will probably lose, what gives me some optimism is how close we played good teams last year and were close and improved a lot on defense especially. Also there is no film to go off for the revamped defense and some new offensive weapons.

Also the Chiefs had some weird games last year losing to the Colts, went to OT against Houston and Titans and no Chris Jones likely.

I just want the game to be close, if we lose so be it. I just want it to go right to the end like we had against Buffalo and give us something to build on moving forward and show we can compete with the best.

  8. I see hardly anyone saying this. Are we not allowed to root for our team at all? What’s the point of the game if the outcome is pre determined, why don’t we just skip the game and hand Chiefs the W?

  9. Uhh, no. In what world do you think rational Detroit lions fans think this an automatic win? None that I know of.

I think most of us understand we have a completely new secondary and have a ton of young guys starting. Let alone we are facing the Super Bowl champions at home on prime time. I expect a great game not a easy one.

  10. And other side of the coin. Mahomes has never opened the season against a formidable opponent such as this teams caliber. No real footage for him to study with our defense all playing together. It will be equally challenging for the KC as well

  11. Very very tough game. I think real fans just want to see us compete and be in it with a chance to win in the 4th. Definitely would love to see a win, but taking a one score L in Arrowhead on National TV would still be a “win” for the perception of this team around the country.

  12. idk a lot of ppl that are absolutely certain this is a W. ive seen more of a crowd of ppl that think we at least have a decent chance to pull it out, especially without CJ. im in that boat. as long as we put up a good fight ill be alright. a blowout loss is the only scenario ill be a little uneasy about.

  13. In more worried about the hyperbole that would surface if we do win. Fans just gotta realize it’s 1 game, win or lose. Our season is not going to be win or lost off the back of 1 game

  14. I’d be happy if it’s competitive and we play well. I am 100% expecting to lose this, and we shouldn’t be mad if we do.

The only reason to be mad is if dumb shit happens, or injuries, or we lose by 50

  15. The only immense challenge will be to get to the emergency room due to my erection lasting over 4 hours.

  16. Starting the season with no preseason for starters, a relatively new joint practice strategy, with multiple new offensive/defensive players, away, against the champs… yeah, this could end up being bad.

They also could play to their potential and win. KC is missing a major defensive weapon and it’s their first game, as well.

Even if the Lions lose by a bunch, I won’t be too worried. Remember when Sam Darnold dominated the Lions in the opener? That happened.

  17. My W is keeping it within 14 in the 4th. If the conditioning and technique of that budding dynasty outperforms sheer hours of 100% hustle till nreaking point is reached physically and mentally then that’s just a talent disparity thing.

  18. We’re going to lose this one, and probably the same way we always lose these games: a late loss of discipline and/or the referees handing it to Mahomes on a platter while the announcers fawn over him. I’m already looking past this week. This is our year to notch our first NFCN title.

  19. I saw some guy calling lions fans cowardly for never letting their expectations be high so they can avoid the sting of disappointment after all these years. Just have faith that the lions are a very good team this year and have a decent shot on Thursday

  20. This is a shit post.

Nobody is acting like we’ve got it in the bag. We’ve got a good, healthy team that will compete, anything can happen.

Nothing more pointless than a “proceed with caution” post.

  21. I was thoroughly expecting us to get embarrassed vs the Bills and @ the Packers (especially) last year … and we showed up. I think my expectation is that we can keep it close and not get blown out and that would be a win and a sign that this team belongs. If we lose by 14+ points then it’s fine, just maybe we need to reevaluate where we are and calm down the Super Bowl talk. Just my opinion (reasonable) which doesn’t seem to be very popular around here.

  22. Allow yourself to believe we can win while keeping in mind that Andy Reid will more than likely have that team ready to go. Chiefs are down a few key players with injuries and contract holdouts but they’re still the champs. Super Bowl hangover or not, they are not going to take us lightly and that kind of respect should make our fanbase feel good about where this franchise is heading. I’m doing my best this year to go into every game and enjoy the ride instead of dissecting every part of the game. Trust the process, we are in good hands.

  23. I’m ready for the same old lions to show up lmao. The Kool aid is strong this year

  24. Nah. It’s ok to be optimistic. It’s week 1. Anything can happen. KC’a best player is out. And we’ve seen them start seasons slow before

It’s ok to feel good things lol. And yeah. Of course it’s an immense challenge. We are certainly the underdog. Anyone who knows football knows this
