[Schefter] After tests today, the Chiefs believe Travis Kelce’s ACL is intact, per source. There is inflammation in his knee, and they will test it again Wednesday to determine his availability for Thursday night vs. the Lions.

  1. I don’t think he plays since it’s a short week but who knows. KC has bigger goals for him to play week 1 and they need him healthy at the end of the season not the beginning

  2. > There is inflammation in his knee

This more of less confirms that he’s out for Thursday. Reid would be a fool to jeopardize their season just to keep his 10 year home opener winning streak in tact.

  3. If the inflammation goes down, he has a chance to play. As long as it stays pissed off, they won’t be able to diagnose the severity of the injury to know if it’s safe to play on or not.

  4. RN here – with the inflammation process, with any injury, it gets worse before it gets better. We usually say around day 3 is the worst. Which would put him at peak thur/fri. It would probably be recommended for him to take the game off. However, obviously they have world class treatments and athletes in top condition have remarkable recoveries. Just thought I’d share.

    FTP.

  5. I feel like they are playing some gamesmanship trying to get us to not prepare for him, then he will be game time decision active

  6. I’d be shocked if they play him. Seems way too risky considering their goals for the year. Especially with 10 days of rest before their next game.

  7. Good. I don’t care either way if he plays Thursday, but I don’t like injuries, especially to an aging star player
