  1. Guy just can’t admit that going into the season with Kwan, Straw and Brennan manning the outfield was a fucking dumb move. Oscar was always going to regress, shouldn’t have thought he was going to break out and be some 30 homer guy when he needs an ore to hit most of the pitches he swings at. Oscar needs to be non-tendered.

  2. I mean…right now power is probably the easiest way to score more runs with what you’ve got elsewhere in the lineup.

  3. I mean there is kinda a simple solution to this…sign some guys that are proven and not take chances with the signingsof guys who may or may not pan out. You got Kwan, Naylor, and Ramirez as the closest to sure things. Gimenez really is there too but he had such a bad year im down on him. Everyone else in the lineup is a crapshoot tbh. You ned 2 other guys to make a solid 5 if you want to consistently score more runs. I would package up some players and get some proven commodities. Most likely won’t happen because that is not the MO of the team

  4. From Paul Dolan

“The problem isn’t not spending money on quality players in free agency, the problem is that other teams spend money on quality players in free agency. Last year, without spending money, we made plenty of profit, while we were in the absolute bottom of the pack in terms of spending money. This year, we spent money on the worst players possible, and this will prevent us from spending more in the future. This is the fault of the fans for not going to weekday afternoon games.”

  5. There’s no way they are happy with the power output of this year’s roster. Everyone underperformed. In theory adding Bell and Zunino to what we had should have been decent. It didn’t work out.

They won’t be paying a premium for power hitters. They won’t be paying a premium for anything lol. And I understand why.

  6. The problem isn’t lack of spending. There are teams that can ball on a budget and be just fine.

Baltimore and Tampa are the two biggest examples of this.

The problem is the ignorance *of* the lack of spending.

Dolan’s approach at finances has crippled the team for over 2 decades, and its because he’s stingy. Other owners are not. Market is also not an excuse. Look at San Diego.

You see, he doesn’t *really* want to win here. His intentions aren’t spending to win, they’re in order to spend *just enough* to give the illusion that we’re spending to be competitive. He just wants asses in those seats and that beer drank.

I’m aware that he’s on record in saying that he’s not gonna spend until we’re competitive. The issue is, he’s a liar. If it was really about waiting until we were competitive, why the fuck did you not spend at that years FA? What about the ENTIRE window of being competitive until 2020? Nothing?

This is not a fanbase that deserves an owner that spends to get butts in the seats, and not out of competitive will. This is not a fanbase that deserves to say that our “spending”, was in low risk, short term purchases. This is NOT a fanbase that’s exactly **PATIENT** anymore either.

Yes we have a good core that could use a few tweaks, but how heavy are we gonna rely on prospect development? How much are we gonna rely on team control of players, just to be for another prospect in the future? The issue isn’t our GM. It’s not in the coaches (although our hitting coach can fuck off), it’s not in tito, it wasn’t the shit signings of bell and zunino.

It’s Dolan. It’s always BEEN Dolan.

  7. On one hand, yeah, pretty much everyone is performing worse than last year. On the other, they clearly were looking for more power when they signed Bell and Zunino (while also continuing the Oscar experiment). The no power approach also doesn’t work if you are making mental mistakes on the base paths and not fielding your position well.
