1. Kenyon Martin is the man to me. It all points back to when I was like 8 years old, I’ll never forget it. I’ll start by saying that I like to rock jerseys of my favorite players, I am a Nuggets fan through and through, but on this particular day, I was wearing a Tracy McGrady Rockets Jersey. My family and I were making a trip to the PX on Fort Carson like we always used to, but I guess the Denver Nuggets were there! NO ONE told me we were about to meet them! My brother quickly pulled me to the side, and told me to flip my jersey inside out. Everyone was cool and nice to me. I met Carmelo Anthony, Michael Cooper, Nene, and a lot of other players. When I got to Kenyon Martin, it felt like he was starring me down. I’ll never forget, he said “maaaan I know you ain’t wearing no Mac jersey here!” He started laughing, which showed me it was okay. He like gave me a hug or dapped me up after that and since that day, it was like I had a cool uncle in the NBA. I have a picture with him somewhere but I for the life of me have no idea where it went. The only one I can find is the one with me, my sister, and Carmelo Anthony. One day I hope I can ask him if he remembers any of this, and just let him know he became a player I would always root for. I was scared of Kenyon Martin, but now he is one of my favorite players of all time!
