  1. I’ve said it before but from his first rush with us, Trey looked lumbering at best. The guy would take like a full second to “prepare himself” to run before taking off. It was like he had to boot up first.

  2. The year is 2030. Artificial intelligence has taken over most jobs. 90% of cars on the world are electric. The first expedition to mars is scheduled for next year. And trey lance is still brought up in 49ers discussions.

  3. I think there’s no reason to crap on Trey Lance to hype up Purdy. Especially now that he’s no longer on the team.

  4. Being fast and knowing how/where to scramble are too different things. I’d bet Lance would beat Purdy in a footrace but Purdy’s better at feeling out the rush and moving around the pocket to make plays with his legs. That’s just playing experience coming thru.

  5. Sometimes you gotta convert three 1st for a 4th to ensure your 7th works out correctly for uh salary cap reasons.

  6. I don’t know about faster, but he’s elusive and he uses the force to get defenders going the wrong way. He also keeps his eyes up still looking to pass, he’s not just running as soon as his main target is covered

  7. I think the point here is the niners already had a bunch of plays for a mobile QB already implemented. It’s just fortunate that we can still use them with Brock.

  8. Y’know, the more the other QBs from that draft play (aside from Lawrence, obviously)…the mistake wasn’t Lance, as much as it was trading up in the first place. I’m sure Jones would look better on a different team, and Fields has had a few moments, but none of the QBs from that draft have looked as good as Purdy.

  9. Lombardi this is a stupid comment and stop trying to turn into an edge lord like some other 49ers reporter people “enjoy”. Leave trey out of your thoughts. You really harp on some players more than others at times and it comes off as trashy.

  10. the best part is that he fell down after getting the first down instead of barreling into 2 defenders and getting crunched

  11. This was immediately noticed last season… Purdy is exceptionally quick and a little shifty.

  12. As long as Purdy doesn’t get injured, everyone should/will forget about Lance pretty quick.

The only person who should care about wasted draft capital is Jed York, and as long as we are winning he doesn’t give a shit.

  13. Typical David Lombardi post. If he’s not comparing someone to a former player for engagement baiting, he’s touting his spreadsheets lol.

  14. He moves around so well in the backfield but the big difference is that he doesn’t seem to lose track of the play when he gets chased out of the pocket. He can put his head up and find a receiver. Purdy looks like a natural out there

  15. Sigh.. leave Trey alone. He worked hard, tried his best, was a good teammate and got unlucky with injuries and lost his job to someone who is the better qb now. No need to keep bringing him up in comparison

  16. Lance has better natural physical gifts, but Purdy processes faster, is (most likely) smarter, so he is ‘quicker’ in real scenarios.

It’s a wonderful thing to see on the field. 🙂
