Geno Smith’s passing chart vs Rams. 5 attempts thrown more than 6 yards beyond the LOS (arguably only 2 catcahble), almost completely abandoned the middle of the field.

That TD was 100% on DK juking his defender badly to get wide open.

  1. I never want to see a pass behind the LOS again this season.

Relatively speaking Geno didn’t play awful yesterday, but the more games like this happen the more I’m starting to give credibility to the concept that he plays worse because the team/play calling is stunting him.

  2. I’m not sure how you could blame much of this on Geno.

Passes behind the LoS are gameplan plays.

And in the second half without our tackles, he had ZERO time to throw.

  3. QBs can’t attack the middle easily if there’s an inside rusher in their face. The Rams attacked Geno from the inside often and the Hawks had no inside pressure on Stafford.

  4. Geno isn’t the guy. He barely performed for four quarters last season if at all, mostly having one good half each game and his success came in the first half of the season. Everyone was caught up in the feel-good story especially given how Wilson was performing for the Broncos. But Geno ain’t the guy he was being made out to be.

  5. Something was up with Geno’s arm. I watched warmups all morning and he wasn’t throwing anything longer than 10yrds… Lock and coaches where the ones throwing 30yd practice passes to the WR’s. Between plays on TO’s I saw Geno tossing the ball to on the sideline or in the field in the sideline and messing with his shoulder.

Something was up… dude wasn’t looking for anything downfield and had very little on the ball on anything beyond an 8yd pass.

  6. For everyone blaming Geno.. go watch the video of him mic’d up with Aaron Donald running straight at him.

  7. My god this sub is stupid sometimes. Most of the passes behind the LOS were dump offs because Geno was getting wrecked a second after the ball got snapped. We played 2 quarters without our starting tackles and our depth on O-Line is shit. This game told us close to nothing about Geno, our offense in general or the coaching except that we’re fcked if Lucas or Cross miss big parts of the season. The 2 quarters we did play with our starters we came into field goal range every drive and scored 13 points (even though we missed a FG) which could’ve been 20+ if we were luckier/better on 3rd down. Maybe let them play more than 2 quarters together before we jump to conclusions. Critique is justified but what we’re doing in this sub at the moment is just stupid. Go let your anger out but c’mon let’s be rational in our critique.

  8. Geno can’t throw there if the play calls don’t place someone there. Rams were using their WR’s all day to throw short passes in middle. Where were our star WR’s lined up?

We used Dissly twice I think. Worked very well. But never mind that, throw a lower probability long bomb to DK…why?

This ain’t on Geno. This has been standard for the Hawks for years. No good use of TE’s (almost as if they don’t exist), always throwing passes to edges or stupid ass screen or behind the LOS passes. That’s all drawn up bullshit.

Geno was chuggin early last year cause we did use center of field. Then I assume Pete felt he played well enough to go back to his lower probability bullshit. It’s almost as if he wants to just prove to league his way works. Wheras some of the best QB’s in the league consistently dump off to big guys across middle to move chains. It’s the way the game is being played.

It’s almost as if Pete wants to play with one hand tied behind his back. Mindlessly running right up gut, awful behind the play tosses, and deep balls. It’s such a piss poor game plan. Simplicity and consistency works. And use the whole football field for god sake.

Oh and btw. I know we were trying to run down clock. But not calling a TO after Dallas goes down in middle of field on that last drive of first half was stupid as fuck. Sitting on 3 TO. Call one there and put together two great plays to get the first down. Instead we rush, don’t convert and then miss the FG.

You see McVay call that TO early in game on 3rd down when he instantly saw an issue. That dude is fucking on it constantly. Pete is just fucking in the clouds chewing his gum. Not to mention the team acting up again during a loss, which is now consistently a problem. I love when people say Pete is a “fun” coach. Well it shows. Team is undiciplined as fuck

  9. My biggest complaint about russ for 8 years was that he wouldn’t throw in the middle. I was so pumped to draft jsn because he was supposed to be a middle of the field guy. Come the fuck on
