NY Islanders Plus/Minus 2023-24: Scott Mayfield with a point to prove in year one of a new contract

This is such a trash article like most of eyeonisles, state facts about the players past, talk about new contract, social media component, zero quotes from Mayfield that in any way support the headline that he has “a point to prove”. Reads like AI and shame on me for clicking on this.
Mayfield is absolutely worth 3.5 mil.
Is that where we needed to allocate money? Different issue
Did we need him signed for 7 years? Different issue
Him being at 3.5 won’t be a bad thing until like 4 years from now anyway. His style of game and lack of injuries in his career should help him get to 35 playing this same level at minimal risk. Beyond that is up for debate
Until we get another pure goal scorer we will always be a fringe/round 1 playoff team.
We need points and goals, we know we can play defense well enough with the group we have.
We also need to jettison Maclean into the sun and sign whoever does Pewee hockey PP coaching cuz that guys STINKS
