The Rockets want to trade KPJ along with draft compensation, Should The Nets jump on that to get their picks back?

  1. Yes. 100%

Let me be clear before I go into the numbers. Whomever is trading for Porter is trading for the compensation, not for Porter. The acquiring team will be waiving him the moment they get him.

    That said:

Porter is signed for $15m + for the next 3 seasons.

This would be a dead $15 million each for ‘23-‘24, ‘24-‘25, and ‘25-‘26.

Is that worth the Nets 2024, Nets 2026 and Nets 2027 back? (Nets 2025 swap is a wash because the Rockets moved it and added more restrictions to it).

My answer is 100% yes. It is worth it.

Dinwiddie straight up for Porter, Nets 2024, 2026 and 2027.

  2. Any team that trades for him is immediately releasing him. Nets are trying to stay under the luxury tax it’s not worth it unless we get back 2 of our picks and that’s not happening

  3. It’s absolutely worth it, we aren’t trading for him to keep. He’ll probably be waived the second, the trade goes through and his contract is only guaranteed for this season.

We can get a head-start on moving some of the redundancy on the roster and get an asset for it. Likely Dinwiddie since they now need a guard. This opens up developmental minutes for some of the young guys on our roster.
