Full Week 2 PFF Grades: Offense/Defense & O-Line Pressures

  1. Chubb heard all of our slander and had his best game as a Dolphin. Had the highest grade on the team. Can’t complain about his performance at all. Next step is to do this against non backup O-Linemen.

AVG did a great job stepping up for Phillips. Seemed like he was everywhere and his grade reflects it.

O-Line once again did a great job protecting Tua only giving up 6 pressures. Lamm has been excellent in his first two games replacing Armstead. Makes it so we really don’t have to rush Armstead back and can take all the time he needs to heal up from his three different injuries.

Ahmed had the higest grade on our offense. A shame he got injured

David Long had a massive bounce back game. Played less than 15 snaps last game and looked pretty bad, but more than made up for it last night. Had a nice sack on a perfectly timed blitz as well as being great against the run.

    X’s grade is surprisingly low

Ogbah ends up as our lowest graded player for the second straight week. Was on the field even less than last week, which is bizarre given the fact that Phillips was out this week. Sucks we weren’t able to trade him in the offseason, but even if we did try to ship him off, I doubt teams were too interested.

Have to give some love for Christian Gonzalez even though he’s not a Dolphin. Ended up as the Pats highest graded player and he looked like it on the field, despite being a rookie. He’s gonna be a monster and it sucks we’ll have to face him twice a year for a while.

  2. Kohou is such a blast to watch. Can’t wait to see this defensive back group when Ramsey and Needham get back.

  3. I’m really happy to be proven wrong on AVG. I thought he was just an effort player who really only shined on special teams, but he was a legit threat last night.

I think part of Howard and Apple underperforming (nice pick for X but his coverage still sucks) comes from them playing off the receivers so often, but neither of them are good tacklers so it looks worse. Howard especially just doesn’t look like he’s giving effort on plays at all unless he can make a play on the ball. Is Cam Smith still injured or are we just not using him?

Mostert has so much more power than I’d expect for a player his size. He’s fast as shit but also bulldozes forward for extra yards every play.

I saw so many offseason articles saying we had no depth at receiver behind Hill and Waddle but Cracraft and Berrios have been fantastic in their opportunities. I don’t think they could carry the full burden of the passing game if those guys went out, but they’re great relief options that defenses don’t respect enough to give real attention to.

I’m not sold on using Ezukanma in the run game. I don’t think he’s particularly explosive and he clearly can’t break into the receiver lineup. Feels like we’re just trying to see what we have with him but he’s worse than every other option we have imo. Using such a tall receiver on end around plays is so weird to me, though I don’t think end arounds are viable in general.

Ogbah looks like a cut next year. His falloff has been weird to watch. He’s just completely invisible every game now.

  4. We are really doing a disservice to Williams by not addressing the center position and slotting him there. Dude is a heck of a lineman and should be getting praised as such but his snap issues are all that stand out.

  5. the performances of our OL show how important the coaching is, probably even more compared to other position groups

i did not expect them to hold up like this against two teams with top pass rushers

the next big tests will be philly and dallas, but so far i couldnt be happier with the group

as long as the line is at least okay we can win any game out there

  6. 9 offensive players rated 70 or above in the green – I know we left some points on the board but this is very very encouraging.
