[Dhaliwal] Freidman on Tanner Person: It was a tough year for Pearson, problems with the surgeries, I wonder if the Canucks think if he is better off elsewhere, I think they are kind of looking into that.

  1. It’s a tough situation but I think it’s for the best. Can’t imagine the relationship between Pearson and management is great at the moment.

Question is, if it’s Pearson, do we need to add a sweetener and how much would it cost?

  2. *If* they pulled off a Tanner Pearson trade, I imagine it’s going to be similar to when he was traded **to** Vancouver for Gudbranson. Ironically, I think he was coming off a hand injury when Van acquired him.

Maybe we see Pearson traded for a player with 2 years term? Jan Ruuta? Jordan Greenway? Someone kinda like that is what I imagine.

  3. I just don’t see how we move Pearson without attaching a 2nd or equivalent value prospect.

Really hope we aren’t about to make another Dickinson trade.

  4. They could waive Pearson if they can’t find a buyer. Our hands are in no way tied here. It’s just about trying to do what’s best for Tanner if they don’t feel he fits on the roster

  5. Do we have to give up a 3rd to move Pearson? Hopefully not. He’s honestly by no means terrible for his contract (1 more season at 3.25m).

He had a bad season last year but was dealing with injuries. The year before that he was at a 0.5 ppg pace and on track for just under 20 goals/42 pts.

  6. Am I the only one here for the Pearson redemption arc? He’s definitely worth his contract when he’s playing at his best. Even if it takes a few months to get back to game shape he will help down the stretch and into playoffs where we’ll need his grit and board play.

He’s the perfect Tocchet guy, plays the game the right way.
