  1. People think I’m unhinged with my hatred for Ross, but this is like lv 9000 unhinged compared to my 11 out of 10. Lol

  2. He’s not that bad. It’s just a vocal minority of meatball fans. Blaming the manager for everything that goes wrong is the laziest analysis one can have. Managers have a minuscule effect on the result of a game. All they can do is put players in the best position to succeed but even that doesn’t guarantee a thing. Sometimes a sub-optimal decision works out. Sometimes the decision with the best odds of success ends in failure. It’s up to the players to execute.

Don’t believe me? The most recent WS champions had Tony LaRussa with good PR as their manager. They really don’t have much of an impact on wins and losses and every fanbase is full of meatballs who think their manger is the worst. You’d be firing one guy to have the same exact complaints about the next. The only time it makes sense to change mangers is if the clubhouse doesn’t believe in them. Otherwise the owner is merely scapegoating the manager to appease the lowest common denominator of fan as opposed to doing something that could actually address the root issue like raising the payroll or investing more heavily in player development.

  3. People are really making mountains out of mole hills here.

Any other teams manager says that and people would praise them for being honest.

And this has to be the dumbest take people keep parroting

“Ya know if they didn’t have a 10-3 record against the pirates they wouldn’t be that good.”

Yeah most teams aren’t that good if they lose **10** wins. Also why ignore their *direct* competitions in favor of indirect lol

Fire really is just like ice once you ignore their differences.

  4. Ross is a solid manager. Fans are so quick to shit on the team and player after 1 game. He’s brought the team miles from where they were.

And he’s open to fans. My wife and I went to Wrigley this year for the first time in years with our infant. We sat near the dugout, and Ross tossed us a game ball. We stuck around for a few seconds to feed our baby. He called us over, and we met Ian Happ.

Personally, I’m broadly in favor of a manager who inspires his team to do better, and that is positive with fans. He’s making moves for the long term health of the team.
