[Talkin’ Yanks] Yankees are calling up their #26-ranked prospect in Yoendrys Gomez as Wandy Peralta heads to the injured list with a triceps strain.

The amount of injuries this team has had is staggering. I get that it’s a lost season so if some players have a nagging injury it makes sense to sit out and rehab it but jeeezee, every week someone goes down

The Yankees signed Gomez as an international free agent out of Venezuela in July 2016 when he was 16 years old.
He’s been on the 40-man roster since 2020, so I’ve been wondering what the plan was for him.
Gomez has started 23 games at the AA level (3.64 ERA, 1.273 WHIP) and is skipping AAA for this callup.
I’m glad we finally get to see him. I was worried he’d be shipped out this winter before we got to see him debut.
I believe this makes 5 Venezuelan-born players on our active roster.
