[Kauffman] Malcolm Brogdon still very much could be traded. I have heard some whispers that the Celtics are still trying to trade him.

> I have been saying for weeks, for months ever since the trade fell apart, do not be surprised if the fallout from this situation still leads to Malcolm Brogdon getting traded. I still believe Malcolm Brogdon is maybe not actively being dangled out there by the Celtics, but I think he is absolutely on the trade block. I firmly, firmly believe that.

  1. idk if clippers still want him

but hield to celtics, brogdon to clippers, and Coffey and Morris to pacers makes a lot of sense, add like 3-5 second round picks going to the pacers

  2. So we’re just going to believe anyone with a podcast now as a legitimate source?

I see “I have been saying” and “I still believe” and “maybe not” all in this single block of quote.

Idk what’s worse, the Dame non-news or this Brogdon stuff lately. Just give it a week until training camp and let the guy speak for himself if he’s unhappy or not.

  3. Hard to know what we can really read into this whole situation.

    * We don’t really know his injury situation.

His injury was reported initially as being serious but actually he’s expected to be ready for camp.

    * We don’t really know his attitude towards the team right now.

We’ve got all these rumours from reporters but haven’t heard much out of Brogdon himself.

    * We don’t really know if the Celtics actually want to trade him.

We know Boston wanted to trade at least 1 of Smart/Brogdon but we don’t know if they really wanted to trade both. There are some indications that we were also supposed to get Tyus Jones early on.

    * We don’t really know how much the Celtics are willing to spend on this roster.

We’re right up against the 2nd apron. Trading Brogdon’s contract for cheaper players is the best way we can shed salary. His contract is also our best way of being able to salary match for a more expensive player.

Like it’s just a weird situation.

Even the trade rumours are weird. We were supposed to send him to LAC, which is a team he nearly chose last offseason. So were we sending him against his will or were we working with him to get him to his desired destination?

  4. Thought Brogdon for KPJ + Tate makes sense tbh.

Also could allow BOS to pick up another useful player in a salary dump w/ KPJ if they don’t want to waive him. Guess could just 3 team trade initially too.

  5. His injury status remains such a mystery.

There were reports earlier in the offseason that said he may still need surgery but that he’s expected to be ready for the start of the season within the same report. But here’s the weird part – he reportedly has golfer’s elbow, and the recovery timeline for golfer’s elbow surgery is supposed to be similar to Tommy John surgery. It takes months, and can take as much as 6 months. That meant, if he still needed surgery, he could be out for a significant part of the season.

Something about the situation feels off.

  6. Actual Malcolm Brogdon has never been as good as theoretical Malcolm Brogdon. No denying the talent but the dude just isn’t dependable year over year, he’s an incredibly difficult player to include on a contending team. This has always been the case, it’s a big part of why the Bucks let him go.

  7. Idk how much I buy this. I don’t see us wanting to enter the season with white and Pritchard as our only guards
