Damian Lillard to Orlando?

>By all accounts, the Raptors seem at least reasonably confident they can maneuver their way to the front of the line, past the Miami Heat — Lillard’s preferred destination — and ahead of a team such as the Brooklyn Nets, who have the draft picks to get something done if Portland is open to taking on the last two years of Ben Simmons’ contract. **The Orlando Magic could also make themselves heard, per sources**.

  1. I feel like we’d have to give up too many valuable assets to make that happen and we’d be in a worse position than we are now.

  2. Not like we need MORE fucking PGs but I rather have Buddy if forced to trade for another PG.

  3. I’m sorry but idk what y’all are smoking. Dame, Suggs/Black, Franz, Paolo, and WCJ is a top 4 team in the east next year. With the current parity in the league, it would begin our contention window immediately

  4. I think some of you are underestimating our timeline. Paolo should be an all-star this year, and Franz will be close if not there as well. We’ve got two of the 50 best players in the league on rookie deals, and an above average Center on a team friendly extension.

Yes the Fultz redemption story is fun, yes Cole is a great locker room guy, and yes once a month Suggs looks like an All-NBA guy, but I’d send all 3 to Portland in two seconds for Dame, contract and all if he wanted to be here. If we can dump the Issac or Harris contracts along the way even better.

  5. I would assume we are a 3rd team trying to get in on the action but not for Dame. If we traded for Dame you could hang it up on the dumb GM decision banner along with Otis and Hennigan who are already up there.

  6. I don’t think Lillard fits our timeline. Also by all accounts the Heat is apparently the only team he’ll play for, so it could just turn into a huge distraction for us. We’ve got a good thing we’re building here. We should be careful not to screw it all up.

  7. We’ll trade JI & Fran Vasquez for Dame.. and only if Portland pays for Dame’s contract too.

  8. Any of you saying you wouldn’t take dame here are absolutely insane. Other than Franz, Paolo, and maybe Fultz nobody on this roster has championship level talent. But if you want to just be like a 6 seed and maybe win a round then sure keep riding out the roster.

Everyone here sits on this “potential” train for way too long. For more than a decade everyone here talks about how we can’t trade ______ because they just need time and it’s literally never panned out. If someone hasn’t significantly improved by the end of their second year playing that’s all they’re gonna be.

Dwight left in 09. And we’ve been stuck doing the same bs for almost FIFTEEN YEARS. Everyone sat on this “potential” train for Tobias, Suggs, hezonja, AG, JI, bamba, Anthony, so on and so forth. None of those dudes can be THE guy on a team. We wanted AG to be a star and the dude is just a solid role player. And the one time we could’ve had another star we traded them for 52 year old Serge Ibaka.

You gotta take risks and make moves. Idc if these guys are all friends and have a good time. As a fan I want to see high level winning. The culture here is too “oh well we’re doing our best” when we need someone here with urgency and fire to create a winning culture. This team and its fans are so satisfied with mediocrity. “I love how everyone gets along with each other, so good to see okeke get 4 rebounds last night, fultz made a 3!” We need higher expectations and accountability.

  9. I think the Magic’s role would be as a 3rd team/ facilitator.

Perhaps being a landing spot for GTJ and sending a bunch of future picks to Portland.

  10. A bad idea for too many reasons, and the Magic aren’t desperate atm to do anything so stupid. Trust the process.
