  1. The fact that he even has to put 1% of his focus on addressing this instead of enjoying himself annoys the piss out of me, just let him cook.

  2. I think Slafkovsky will end up a player who’s impact on the game isn’t directly reflected by points. I think he lacks the high-end puck skills other first overalls have, but his physicality, willingness to battle along the boards and in front of the net, and attitude will make him an unique piece to his team.

In a vacuum, maybe he won’t be the best player from his draft, but I bet he’s going to be a crucial piece to the Habs when they’re making a push for the cup, and that’s all that matters.

  3. Habs fans on Leafs players folding under the pressure: “They’ll never win if their top players can’t step up in the playoffs”

Habs fans when media expects their top players to perform under pressure: “Leave ~~Brittney~~ Slaf alone!”

Jesus Christ guys, he clearly wants the pressure and the expectation. There’s nothing wrong with it!

Give him time. He is capable of becoming an elite player and he knows that. We as fans have a duty too everyone… We must support our players. Imagine how it feels to be him right now.

He went from an incredible performance in the international tournaments, getting nationwide recognition in his home country, getting draft 1OA when he wasn’t expected to be – to the biggest organization in hockey.

The last time he was productive was over a year ago. That is very, very difficult for players who are used to dominating. Do you think he doesn’t know that?

Him dealing with the pressure he puts on himself is already an entire challenge to deal with. We fans adding on to that pressure doesn’t do any good. We should be his backbone, the people he can look to and say “at least they believe in me” when he loses some of that belief in himself. Yes, criticism can be valid and it does have its place. But we must celebrate his victories, even if that means having a decent game in preseason.

We support you, Slaf. I hope he is taking this crazy experience one day at a time.
