[Dr. Nirav Pandya, M.D.] The good news (assuming that this is a “low” ankle sprain) is that the “ramp” up period isn’t as long for these injuries as opposed to say a knee / hip injury. Most athletes will be able to maintain a high degree of conditioning barring a large amount of pain / swelling.

  1. We’ve heard “ramp up” so many times the last couple seasons that I just assume that means out indefinitely.
