[Duggan] This was after the third-and-11 run late in the first half. Daboll said there was a “miscommunication” and he wanted a pass. Not a lip reader, but does Jones say, “I thought don’t throw it.”

  1. DJ really ain’t helping himself with things like this. You gotta feel bad for him even if you want him replaced

  2. just another thing that pisses me off about our supposed “franchise quarterback.” if he doesn’t think something will work he won’t say anything. he STILL struggles with communicating with the team about what he likes and doesn’t, and where he thinks things can be better. and this is after we paid him and the GM/HC came out and publicly said they believe he’s a franchise quarterback. he just does exactly what he’s told and nothing else. that’s not a guy who elevates their squad.

let’s just say they did actually call a run up the middle on that 3rd-and-long. as a professional quarterback, it’s mindboggling how you would NOT have problem with a decision like that. you would think he would’ve just called his own play or butt heads with the coach about how that’s a stupid thing to do. But no, he actually executed a run up the middle on 3rd and long.

  3. I’m so tired of this discussion. I wish we had franchise tagged him… not because of his ability or lack thereof…. just because I am so tired of hearing about it.

The whole team is garbage, and to be honest it doesn’t even matter that we are “paying him 40M a year omg” like what, you think if we had that 40M back the team would be better this year? I doubt it.

We’re locked in for 2 years, ok, imagine it was 1 year. We take a QB in the draft. Oh look, he’s running for his life and making mistakes and building up a healthy level of shell shock and PTSD. If anything it would be good to have a rookie sitting behind Jones for a year whilst we try to fix this absolute mess of an offensive roster.

As for Jones’ performance, who cares honestly, it’s not even our biggest problem. For a start if you swapped Jones & Purdy, both teams probably stay the same – but irrespective of that, our QB problem? That problem is way behind several others:

    – Why does the entire team look so unprepared and outmatched every game? What’s going on Head Coach?

    – How is the O-Line getting WORSE with all of the resources we have dumped into it?

    – How is special teams an absolute liability?

    – How is our Pass Rush (which we have heavily invested by the way) not getting anywhere near the QB?

At least Jones is quite durable and perhaps can sit there and be the punching bag whilst we try to fix the rest of this pathetic mess.

  4. “I thought don’t throw it.” Be a baller, and make the right decision for yourself. You’re on the field and in the moment.

Was this in reference to an RPO? I saw at least a few play calls that looked RPO where my mind was boggled as to why he handed off.

  5. I certainly fucking hope not. There’s a ton of really bad implications (for both Jones and coaching staff alike) if the play call includes “throw it” or “don’t throw it.”

    Yikes.

  6. Yeah, that *looks like* what he’s saying. But is that *actually* what he’s saying. Y’are going off the deep end over speculation.

  7. This is on both Jones and Dabes tbh. Jones should know the situation, and obviously listen to the fucking play call. Dabes play calls really shouldn’t have any room for misinterpretation. Something as simple as “fire” to indicate throw it no matter what leaves no room for interpretation

  8. Im so glad this coming offseason if the year we get cap space. I don’t think we’re going to spend a ton on free agents but hopefully we can get better in different positions. Im starting to think that last year was something of an anomaly from DJ. Hopefully I’m wrong
