New Jersey Devils release a statement in support of Israel

Both David Blitzer and Josh Harris are Jewish, which I feel like is important context. Commanders and Sixers also put out statements. Regardless of how you feel about politics related to the current situation (or LGBTQ rights, etc.), it’s good to remember that sports teams are just billionaires’ toy things. I see the comments on Devils Instagram and Twitter and it’s weird to see people criticizing the decision to release a statement when teams are literally owned by one or a handful of humans with their own thoughts and opinions and can’t possibly be neutral. I guess I don’t understand why sports are expected to be a politics-free, unbiased zone.
Hopefully there’s peace soon, but unlikely as Israel has been attacked by the surrounding countries and terrorist factions for their entire existence.
Well, I certainly don’t need another ticket package after this season.
