  1. Reminder: because the Canucks are an LTIR team and don’t play tomorrow they have more time after today’s deadline to change their roster and do some paper transactions to optimize the cap space (like they did now calling up Podz, sending down Hirose/McWard).

We’ll know our real opening roster on Wednesday morning.

    As always, explained by [Capfriendly](https://x.com/capfriendly/status/1711432522901463388?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw)

    And from Puckpedia:
No players can be called up before Wednesday, but additional players can be added to LTIR and players can be called up.

(If Soucy is placed on LTIR he will have to miss at least 10 games – 24 days).

  2. Quite surprised McWard didnt make the team to start. Thought he looked much better than Juulsen.

  3. This has nothing to do with anything but we only have 4 Canadians on this team. That’s gotta be the lowest in the league lol

Edit: I just thought it was an interesting stat since more than 40% of the league is Canadian – didn’t say it was necessarily a good or bad thing

  4. Boeser weighs the same as Soucy, and more than Juulsen and Joshua. Does that surprise anyone else?

  5. although the defence is quite ass as usual, the forward depth seems insane. Excited to see who stands out

  6. Not necessarily surprising, but the only forwards that came in at 200+ lbs were Miller, Brock, Joshua and Lafferty.

Maybe with the added emphasis on fitness/conditioning guys are coming into camp intentionally lighter.

You can see why they wanted to add someone with some speed/size into the bottom-6 with Lafferty.

  7. If he’s not already nicknamed “Pope” Pius, we need to start calling him that.

    > Kyrie Eleison! Pope Pius canonizes the puck into the top corner – Canucks lead 2 to 1.
