Bradley Roby looks like Eagles’ answer at the nickel position

  1. Bradley Roby: 2 catches on 5 targets for -4 yards

Mario Goodrich: 5 catches on 5 targets, 49 yards

Eli Ricks: 2 catches on 3 targets, 30 yards

And Roby also helped slow down All-Pro Cooper Kupp. Against Roby, Kupp had 1 catch on 3 targets for 5 yards. Against everyone else, Kupp had 7 catches on 10 targets for 113 yards.

  2. We don’t need him to be All Pro level. We need him to not completely blow coverages all the time.

  3. All he needs to do is perform better than Josiah Scott did last season, and I will never complain about him.

  4. Credit to him for playing so well cold turkey.

But while I think he’s our best answer moving forward, it’s way too soon to say he’s THE answer.

  5. His stats are more of the Stafford and Kupp connection being rusty. If Stafford connected on some of those throws, the story would be different

  6. It was not me game and it looks like he got beat on 2 deep balls that stafford didn’t connect on.

  7. I could see Howie staying put on the positions everyone’s asking for, at least for any bigger starter names being thrown around like Budda, Kenny Moore or Simmons. Main reason being the positions (S, LB) aren’t really ones we value a lot or ones they rotate and he’s usually a “we like our guys” type dude unless it’s a big gaping hole or a rotational piece, probably cool with Sydney and Morrow as depth too. Slot CB’s the only real question mark and will depend on how Roby plays these next 3 games. I’m still expecting a move but it’ll probably be purely additional depth (barring additional injuries) rather than starters you can pencil in

  8. Good. Now who’s our answer at outside corner? Slay’s been getting cooked. Not just this season but towards the end of last season too. JB was getting torched too and Stafford narrowly missed a couple of long completions after the receiver left JB in his wake. And bears mentioning that JB was one of the reasons we lost the SB with that penalty.

I don’t know what it is, but we can never seem to find a lockdown solution at corner. And we’ve been trash for years at trying to draft a good CB. Can’t remember the last time we drafted a defensive back that worked out. Got to go back to Lito and Sheldon I guess.

  9. It almost like a guy that primarily plays nickel happens to also be decent at nickel

  10. I wish Maddox could stay healthy for a full year, he’s such an exciting player. Oh well, Roby it is
