I think George is genuinely a nice (maybe too-nice) guy who wants to do the right thing, but just keeps deferring to the people around him because he’s trying to stay out of football operations as much as possible. So he ends up taking bad advice and hiring the wrong people and perpetuating the cycle.
EDIT: It was kind of silly when he was so desperate to have Poles that he picked him up at the airport himself. It represented the franchise well, but like…did we really have to have Poles so bad? Reminded me of Pace trading up just to make sure we got OUR GUY Trubisky. Zero introspection that maybe you’re wrong about who the right guy is.

I remember during that disastrous zoom presser a few years ago when he said something along the lines of “ownership thinks I’m doing a good job” when asked if his performance deserved criticism. So his mommy said he was doing a good job lol!!
The reality is that successful organizations basically always have strong cultures emanating from the top. If leadership is inept, it’s impossible to be successful over a long time scale. You might get lucky one or two years (we could have won a SB if we had any other QB besides Grossman, etc.) but you will never be successful long term.
