Why did Jalen Hurts throw this pass? Is he stupid?

If ZDub threw that pass the stream of “HAHA LOL ZACH WILSON IS POVERTY FRANCHISE QB” memes by 31 other teams would still be going today
Blind or trusts himself too much. Or maybe one year of good QB play isn’t an indication of future success and $200m worth
To make matters worse, he threw it off his back foot. Pressure from Huff definitely sped him up.
Better question is why would the OC dial up a pass instead of killing clock and punting to an offense that literally could not get in the endzone all game, let alone with a minute left and like 80 yards.
And if you ask Eagles fans, yes, he is stupid
As for Hurts I wonder if he just did not see the safety somehow, or if he thought he could bullet the ball in that tight window fast enough.

Different looks had him confused.
Multiple reasons. The TE was the shortest route ran in that play, so there was no check down. Jalen was expecting a blitz because the Jets have blitzed multiple times out of that formation throughout the game, so the idea is to they the ball out quick against the blitz and that usually goes to the check down, but again there was no check down route so the go to route in this scenario is the TE curl route. Then consider that Jermaine came up the middle HOT of a stunt, you can see it in this still image where he already has the RG on one knee in Jalen’s face. With this pressure crashing in his face and Jalen backpedaling, he attempts to throw it to his safety net but the issue is he throws it off his back foot resulting in a pass straight to Tony Adams whom Jalen most likely doesn’t see due to all the activity between him and Tony Adams.

because most teams don’t respect the Jets, that’s why the OC dialed it up and that’s why Hurts tried to make the throw..

I want to say the green jerseys mixing in with the field played a part.
This angle is so misleading. You can’t see Adams from Hurts perspective because of the sheer number of bodies in the way.. He thought Adams was blitzing, so assumed he was in the medley in front of him.
Obviously terrible QB play, but explainable .
Pretty sure he was distracted by the didnt really see Adams at all
