  1. Excited to see Hendricks and Sensabaugh grow into the game the same way Ochai did last year. GIVE ME MORE JAZZ BASKETBALL!!!

  2. Game notes for those who didn’t watch this meaningless game:

    * Dunn and George continue to look like our best point guards

    * John Collins is becoming more and more comfortable, and had some nice moves off the dribble that I didn’t know he had

    * Kessler hit a corner 3

    * Sensabaugh has the potential to be a monster on offense but frankly has a looooong way to go on defense. Reps in the G League will go a long way for him.

    * Hendricks would benefit a lot from G League reps too, I think he just needs to get used to the speed of the NBA

    * All of our guards except Dunn kept getting roasted by a 5’11 guy lol

    * TIL Romeo Langford was on the Jazz

  3. GAME NOTES:
Not a bad showing by our guys tonight. We got off to a hot start in the first, but kind of cooled off in the second and third quarters, before pulling ahead again in the fourth.

Lauri was our leading scorer, 5-12, 1-3 from 3, for 15 points 7 rebounds in 17 minutes. He always looks good, tonight was no different.

John Collins looks much improved after the first two preseason games. He is more involved, and is running in open floor which is great. Keyonte George threw him a beautiful lob. 4-5 shooting, missing his only 3 point attempt, 9 points 3 rebounds in 17 minutes.

Walker Kessler hit a contested 3! WOW. 3-5, 8 points, 3 blocks. He looked great out there defensively.

Clarkson started us off right in the game, and finished with 12 points, 3 reb, 3 assists, but 3 turnovers. Would love to see his turnovers cleaned up, but not bad considering it’s still preseason.

THT looked ugly out there. didn’t score, 2 turnovers, by far one of the worst games I’ve seen from him. I haven’t been impressed with him this preseason, and actually think he should be our 3rd string PG, behind Dunn and George. I don’t quite believe in him and I don’t think he should be getting many reps with our regular rotation. I can’t overstate how ugly it was watching his game tonight.

Agbaji was my player of the game. He did it all, which I absolutely loved. If you’ve read my game notes from last season, I wished he was slightly more involved in the offense, and was penetrating and making good reads with the ball. He did it all tonight. 4-8 shooting, 2-5 from 3, 2-2 from the line for 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks with a steal. Great defensive game from him, and he looks so much better than last season. I definitely see him getting more and more minutes as the season progresses.

Keyonte is an excellent catch and shoot 3 point shooter. Off the dribble he isn’t bad, but he excels as a catch n shoot guy. 3-7 shooting, 1-3 from 3 for 8 points to go along with 2 assists. I really love watching him play, and he doesn’t seem lost out there. His rookie mistakes don’t look bad, and he hardly makes them. I have high hopes for the kid.

Kris Dunn didn’t shoot a shot today, but I think he deserves to be our starting PG. 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block in 7 minutes of play. I have been terribly low on Kris Dunn since we signed him, but I genuinely think he is our best option to start at PG.

Taylor Hendricks had the most minutes he’s had this preseason with 15, and he was 2-3 (0-1 from 3) with 4 rebounds. He did have 4 fouls which he needs to get cleaned up, but his highlight play was getting a steal, and throwing a dot to a sprinting Keyonte George for the two hand slam. Jury is still out on Taylor Hendricks IMO

Fontecchio had a useless 7 minutes, doing nothing but fouling once. I hope he isn’t our backup SF.

Yurtseven has again surprised me. I think he deserves more than a 3rd string center, but that’s probably what he is going to be on this team as currently constructed. 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block in 9 minutes of play.

We finally saw Brice Sensabaugh! 17 minutes of play tonight, 3-8 shooting (0-2 from 3). He made the same move twice, where he catches the ball on the right wing, dribbles to his left, and hits a stepback 14 footer on the right elbow. It looks nice. Locke made an observation today that not a lot of high usage guys translate well into the NBA, and Sensabaugh was a high usage guy in college. It will be interesting to see his development, but I think he is definitely better than Fontecchio.

Micah Potter, Johnny Juzang, Luka Samanic, and Romeo Langford all got minutes in the 4th, and actually looked alright out there. Potter is a sharpshooter, we know that based off of him leading the G League in 3pt percentage last year, and he looked great. Langford didn’t look too good, but again, he’s an end of bench guy at best. Same with Juzang and Samanic.

Still one more preseason game, but if it were up to me, starters would be Dunn, Clarkson, Markkanen, Collins, Kessler. Bench would be George, Sexton, Agbaji, Hendricks, Olynyk. I don’t see THT fitting in too well, and I think this preseason has showed that. Unless Will Hardy sees something in him that I don’t see, I have a hard time believing he is rotational player.

    3-1 in the preseason!

  4. Okay I am too excited about collins. Reminds me a little bit of when we signed Rudy gay. Hopefully John has a better run with us

  5. Keyonte played well. Loved seeing the Kessler 3

Also, I’m pretty sure my phone was listening to Locke talking about Tom Abercrombie on the Breakers. I just got an Instagram ad for Abercrombie and Fitch clothing.
