  1. Stefanski takes so much heat (sometimes rightfully so) but almost never gets his flowers when he should.

A good deal of the time, coaching criticism is lazy, uneducated, and a lowest denominator argument because they
re an easy target. Easy to blame a coaching job, difficult to accept that maybe some of your players just suck.

And this is true of all coaches. 49ers fans were ripping the shit out of Shanahan yesterday, despite him being a top five coach in the league.

  2. He thought fans were better than this? That this was a better football town? What about doing his job for the last however many years implied that? The people who call into sports radio stations are the most brain dead “fans” in the world.

  3. I think stefanski is easily the best coach we have had in over 20 years, people are extremely hard on him. There are things he does that make me wonder what he was thinking but to be fair so does every coach in the league

  4. My gut wants me to call Anthony Lima a fucking dildo but then I remembered he’s likely never provided pleasure for another human being in his entire unnecessary existence.

  5. So radio show that hypes team up to Super Bowl contender every Summer. Are now mad that fans expect Super Bowl caliber coaching every week.

Said it once say it again. The Browns are one of the biggest sports scams in America. Just the cycle of never-ending hype/hope leading to nowhere. Every single year.

Guards and Cavs (minus Lebron) never hyped up. Always in a wait and see mode.
Browns…Super Bowl or bust after going 7-10. It’s such a joke.

  6. I think Kevin is a great coach. Smart. Calm. Calculated. Can make replacement players very good in situations that they are thrown into.

I also think Kevin, for whatever reason, has 2-3 brain farts a game where everyone watching a Browns game goes “what the fuck was that?”

Off the top of my head:

His absolute refusal to run the ball consistently in the first half vs Cincy this year. Even though Chubb was avg 8ypc.

4th and 1 speed option vs Pitt

Reverse with Njoku @ Atlanta in 22

4th and inches fade to DPJ @ Cincy in 22

And that’s just off the top of my head.

  7. Let’s face it, many of us as football fans are just straight up reactionary douches. It’s basically a play-by-play kind of feeling, but it’s one that’s almost universal amongst all sports fan communities. It’s one of those Neanderthal human aspects that will never leave us.

  8. Stefanski since ’99

    – Winningest coach
    – Second longest tenure
    – 1 of 2 to make a playoff appearance
    – Only coach to record a playoff win
    – Coach of the year winner
    – Literally made a Baker, Keenum, Brissett and PJ offense serviceable.

Regardless how the season turns out I’d take him back next year.

  9. I’ve seen this city go off on Marty and the Hoodie. There’s just some fans that have to show their a$$ with their “insight”

  10. My biggest beef with Stefanski is that, historically, his gimmicky offense has struggled against physical defenses and his ability to adjust in-game has been atrocious to non-existent. There’s also been an inability to win close games the last few years, mixed with super inconsistent discipline around the team. (*Back breaking penalties and turnovers at horrible moments in games*).

For whatever reason, he just comes off as soft to me.

However, with that being said, that’s just me being an arm chair coach.

I would agree that he’s probably the best coach we’ve had since returning to the league but he’s also been blessed with a super talented roster whereas many coaches before him WERE NOT so lucky.

    Just win games. That’s all.

People will shut up about him if he just wins.

I’ll eat the crow pie myself if we just keep winning.

  11. I feel like this every time I visit r/Browns

This season has definitely brought out the worst in Browns fans. Some of the takes on here are absolutely brutal. Especially since these are the people who wanted to go all-in on Sean Payton and Josh McDaniels.

I’m convinced that people just need something to bitch about and always need someone to blame. HC and QB are the easiest targets and both have been absolutely attacked. They completely ignore the good playcalling and just focus on stuff like PJ Walker’s almost pick on the last drive. Even though he was never supposed to throw that ball.

  12. Stef isn’t perfect but the whole fire the coach talk really should be reserved for the off season. Focus from the fans needs to be lifting up our guys-coaches included- and helping them make a playoff run. This can be a special team. Theres a gleam.

  13. I know I am an unreasonable fan and blame Stefanski too often, but those jet sweeps using Moore suck. They are painful to watch. We also (I think) have the second worst comeback in the fourth quarter stats. We need Watson. Bad.

  14. Got into an argument over Kevin Stefanski a couple weeks ago on here. I made a rant, provided my reasoning, and the blubbering idiot still said “you got nothing” over and over again because “real Browns fans hate Stefanski.” Fuck you dude, I got receipts.

  15. There was a great deal of luck involved in that win but I think he shined in the moments where he knew the offense’s limitations, such as punting on 4th and short late in the game.

  16. He is correct! Some ‘fans’ are just stupid, they don’t know ball. The problem is they are also loud.

  17. I agree with Lima ????

Anyway, there were people chanting at the game for Stefanski to get fired. As he went toe-to-toe with the #1 offense in the league and prevailed with a 3rd string QB and no Nick Chubb. Browns are playing amazingly well situational football right now. It’s not the greatest show on turf or the Brady-Moss Patriots, but he’s done very well. And he got Jim Schwartz to come here and create a behemoth of a defense.

  18. My problem with firing a coach that’s doing seemingly well for your team always comes back to this: who do you replace him with? It’s not like madden where you can make hires and fires with zero consequences. Is he the best coach on earth? No. Could we do better? Doubtful. With the major injuries sustained, would the browns still be competitive under someone else? Unlikely.

  19. I mean, we lost the game. Twice. But two not so great penalties at the end let us take the lead. Then the niners kicker blew it.

The offense still looked sloppy most of the game. That’s why people are still on the fire Kevin train. The defense has won us every game this season. While the offense constantly needs excuses made for their performance. Stefanski is currently being carried by Schwartz.

  20. I think fans just want a winning culture so bad that their fuse is so short. Fans have adapted to the culture the browns have of firing coaches over a few tough games

  21. As has been said by many rational Browns fans before, Stefanski (and Berry for that matter) would be gobbled up by another franchise shortly after being let go from Cleveland. Way above replacement level.

I mean fuck, Stefanski has a winning record and Browns fans complain. How soon we forget.

  22. If I wanted to hear insane talk radio callers I’d tune into talk radio. Instead I come to r/Browns for the calm, rational discourse.

  23. He’s an average coach for a team that has had nothing but horrendous coaches for 25 years.
