AJ Brown cried when the Patriots Didn’t Draft Him. We did too 😭

  1. He wanted to play with Brady. I don’t think there’s a zero probability that he could *still* be playing with Brady today if we didn’t pass on him.

  2. Absolutely idiotic that we passed up this guy (and so many others) for fucking N’Keal Harry.

  3. N’Keal Harry’s draft profile was that simply put he would be a contested catch big bodied guy. But at no point did anyone think he was better than Brown or Metcalf or Samuel.

This was total negligence on Belichick’s part especially in the whole “trusting a friend” over his own scouting department.

  4. Can we all stop being hindsight merchants please – it’s getting old and embarrassing!!!

I actually believe that the draft is a complete crapshoot and they are barely even educated guesses, but there was a lot of praise of the 2019 draft at the time. No-one knew deebo etc were going to be amazing – that’s why he didn’t go 5 overall or whatever.

  5. If we draft AJ Brown instead of N’Keal Harry (or Chris Godwin instead of Derek Rivers, for that matter), Brady stays for his whole career

  6. I remember someone saying that the N’Keal Harry pick was the end of the dynasty. Now that I think about it they’re probably right tbh.

  7. He really wanted to get drafted by the Pats. So did Deebo, famously tweeting after his ire draft visit, “see you in a couple weeks”. Hoping to get drafted by the Pats…imagine had they drafted either of those guys instead of Harry?

And even more ridiculous, they could have em had both AJ and Deebo with their first two picks that season. That might have changed the ark of this story quite a lot.
