My Reaction Every Time I Hear “But Ridder is Basically a Rookie” or “Ridder Needs More Time to Develop”. Nope, dude has been through 2 training camps, 2 preseasons, prepared for 6 preseason games and 23 regular season games. And he’s STILL making the same mistakes he made in college.

  1. The one thing I found out in the post-Ryan era is that the majority of falcons fans (at least on social media) are complete morons.

  2. Ngl, this most recent game isn’t a good example for this. Only one int was 100% his fault, and outside of that pick he played a mostly good game and moved the offense well despite an atrocious run game. That being said, he’s so far not good enough to be a franchise qb. But time will tell.

  3. I am going down with the ship fuck it.

Worse case get us a better pick for next year’s QB Class.

But yeah as one of the biggest defenders of Ridder this most recent game was roughhhhhhhhh. His leash better be very short next week. Give Heinicke a try if last week Ridder shows up.

  4. Note able good QBs who struggled their first year

    Bledsoe 15/15 td to picks
    Joe Namath 18 15 picks
Troy aikman 9 tds 18 picks
    Elway 7/14
    Bradshaw 6/24
    Eli manning 6/9
    Mcnabb 8/7
    Peyton manning 26/28
    Tom Brady 18/12
    Josh Allen 10/12
    Joe burrow 13/5
    Drew Bree’s 17/16
    Tlaw 12/17
    Luck 23/18
    Geno smith 12/21
    Tua 11/5
    Hurts 16/9
    Matt Ryan 16/11

But by all means let’s get rid of ridder after 6 games.

Has he been good? Absolutely not. But this idea that all these amazing QBs we’ve seen were just total studs in their first year Is absolutely ridiculous

Edit for the angry people * first year as a full starter

  5. What a coincidence. That’s the same reaction I have every time someone makes another damn Ridder post.

  6. This shit is tone deaf. Elite QBs don’t grow on trees, and even less are balling their 1st season on the field.

  7. Also when they compare 1st round talents QBs that struggled year one to a 3rd rounder in year 2

  8. I have a very hard time believing you consistently watched Desmond Ridder in college

  9. Tell me you’ve never played football without telling me you’ve never played football

  10. ? So practice is the same speed as game time? Nope, the lack of development for Ridder lies at the feet of the coaching staff. Why only play one series in preseason, why continue to play Mariota after two baaaad loses and production that was akin to Rookie production. Why are we passing so much. Why are we running unsuccessful plays multiple times? Coaching. Stop blaming Ridder when the coaching staff is failing him. Lol I mean you need a time out after you spike the ball…really?

  11. QB is a repetition position. Your criticism should be that it was dumb to sit him in the preseason. He’s having growing pains but he seems more comfortable week after week.

  12. Im not sure why two training camps is such a magic number for people that says a qb has to be good now or they suck

  13. Teams don’t scheme against his weaknesses in preseason. They use vanilla coverages and do nothing unique. It’s completely different than regular season games that matter. If he’s still doing what he did in college that falls more on coaching than anything else. They should be identifying these habits and attempting to break them.

  14. It’s especially shocking when you consider that the guy who threw for three touchdowns and zero interceptions that we just played was taken after Ridder in the same draft class in the same round and played only one game last year but no one’s running around calling him “just a rookie”.

  15. My only rooting interest is for clarity on Ridder by week 17. In a roundabout way, the worst case scenario is actually that Ridder winds up doing “ok”…

If he sucks as much as it seems like he might at his floor, we lose a lot of games and have a clear mandate to draft a different QB1.

If he flips a switch, and plays up near his current ceiling, he buys another year and we hopefully get wins, taste playoffs with a young roster, etc.

But if he’s just generally inexperienced and kinda shitty, but slightly better than before? That thrusts us into an offseason where we have to decide whether to run it back with a below average starter or use pick 18 on the QB5 who is probably a bust anyway.

  16. none of that helps in game regular season reps you can practice for years but once you actually doing someone live when it counts it doesnt matter in game real regular season games matter and 10 games isnt alot of games

  17. And yet every QB that was drafted in the first round has either been a dud because they started too soon, or the team has exercised patience with them for two or more seasons, and they have come along quite well, but then again some first rounders even after 3 years at still garbage, but there are members of this fan base that actually advocate for bringing a failure from another team to this team, brilliant, I tell you what. But yet our ridiculous fan base thinks 10 games as a starter, for our 3d round pick, is more than enough and he should just be good to go, because our armchair QBs, coaches and coordinators and fantasy-centric wannabe GMs think by throwing out jargon terms they hear in sports talk shows makes them knowledgeable football fans.
