  1. This was the bottom of the fourth inning on Thursday, August 10, 2000 against the Athletics. The Yankees won the game, 12-6. Mark Mulder was the Oakland pitcher, he gave up 10 runs, 11 hits, and 3 walks in 3 1/3 innings that afternoon.

  2. It’s too bad he and the Yankees linked up at the end of his career. His personality was made for NY. Big, loud and always looking for the spotlight. Perfect for NY.

  3. I was at this game. I went home early cause the Yankees opened a can of whoop ass on the A’s.

  4. Jose Canseco is why I’m a Yankees fan today. When I was growing up, he was my favorite player. The A’s were my favorite team, then the Rangers, and whatever teams he was on following that (yes, even the Red Sox). By 2000, his career was waning, I was 17 years old, and fell in love with that Yankees team. I’ve been here ever since, and no intention of ever changing.

  5. The rumor at the time was the Yankees snagged Canseco on waivers simply so the Red Sox wouldn’t get him.

He was left off the roster for the ALDS and the ALCS, but might not have been if Knoblauch wasn’t a basket case.

  6. Was at this game as well. This was pre stat cast but it may have been the hardest ball I’ve ever seen hit live. That or Judge’s rocket of a home run in the 2018 wild card game

  7. I was at this game- I had never seen a ball into the LF upper deck at the time and it was crazy…
