  1. It’s been awhile since I’ve genuinely enjoyed listening to a Canucks’ HC presser. Could listen to Tocchet talk hockey forever.

  2. I want to just say, it’s absolutely amazing to hear (I think) Drancer asking the technical systems question on a breakdown leading to a goal against, and Tocchet just unloading the coaching jargon in his response.

It’s refreshing to hear a coach talk like a coach instead of with platitudes in order to get out of the interview as quick as possible.

If Tocch’s like this in public with reporters, imagine how he is in the room or on the ice with the team?!

It might be a bit of a slow burn but once this team gels, watch them take off! We’re so fortunate that we have Petey, Miller, Boeser, PDG!, Kuzmenko (finally), Hughes, Hronek, Demko and DeSmith all firing at high levels to help us through these rocky games (game 2 vs EDM, the Philly game and then the Lightning). We’re not always going to win these games, but we should win more than we lose and at some point this group is going to reach critical mass.

It’s going to be a fun, fun season.

  3. tocchet is sooooo much better than boudreau. he really improves the team, doesn’t he? we’re definitely a lock for the playoffs under his outstanding mentorship and smartness

  4. 2 years ago on this day, without the changes made, we would’ve heard Benning say he doesn’t know why the Canucks started 0-5-0

  5. It was interesting how he said they’re basically forced to roll Hughes and Hronek for extended minutes until “some injured guys come back”

The only injured guy on the roster is Brisebois, who probably can be trusted in a 3rd pair role, but doesn’t move the needle a ton if we’re being honest.

I think this basically all but confirms that Bear will be back when he’s healed.

Also I love hearing coaches talk about coach stuff, good on the reporters for asking the good questions.

  6. Interesting takeaway here seems to be that Foote is the guy calling the shots on the lines and bench shortening through the game.
