  1. According to this **WEIGHTED** model…

    Top 5 WORST picks:

    1. L Andersson – Rangers – drafted #7 (#54 in re-draft)

    2. N Patrick – Flyers – drafted #2 (#47 in re-draft)

    3. U Vaakanainen – Bruins – drafted #30 (#62 in re-draft)

    4. K Vesalainen – Jets – drafted #24 (Not ranked in re-draft)

    5. S Bowers – Senators – drafted #28 (Not ranked in re-draft)

    Top 5 best picks:

    1. J Swayman – Bruins – drafted #111

    2. D Batherson – Senators – drafted #121

    3. N Cates – Flyers – drafted #137

    4. S Aho (D) – Islanders – drafted #139

    5. S Skinner – Oilers – drafted #78

I have used the following formula to attempt to weight the value of a good pick (where a player’s re-draft position was higher than their actual drafted position):

    *=IF(GX<FX,(FX-GX+(weighted value)),””)*

Players ranked outside top 40 of re-draft have not been taken into account, as in my opinion jumping from pick 163 to pick 61 isn’t anywhere near as impressive as jumping from pick 54 to pick 7 in a re-draft.

  2. Dallas absolutely won this draft by a landslide. Heiskanen, Robertson and Oettinger all in 1 draft class. I remember I was so hyped about this draft class for the Canucks, believed in Lind, Gadjovich, DiPietro, Rathbone and Palmu all have a good shot of becoming a regular NHLer. How wrong was I lol.

  3. Followed that draft closely and I remember the general opinion from scouts and articles leading up to the draft was that it was “weak” and had no franchise level talent. Looks like it turned out to be a pretty strong draft

  4. I’m just glad to see one of these putting some respect on Hischier. I’ve seen far too many of these re-drafts that drop him to like 12th. Maybe he isn’t quite what you wanted with a first overall but he’s still a hell of a player.
