Yeah… I guess we can go with the “it’s early in the game/season – he will show up later in season when it matters most” line.
But you can’t just not show up and throw away early season games and expect to be in contention later on. Especially with the play-in nonsense – a playoff spot is not a given beyond the first 6 seeds.
So, it would be of great benefit for the Heat to value the earlier portion of the season as much as possible to give themselves a margin for error later in the season.
Let’s face it, this roster isn’t yet good enough to think a playoff spot is guaranteed – especially at this point in the season.
Maybe age factor? just watching Luka right now almost 40+pts back to back games, carrying the team. Can’t we have that kind of carry? They have almost the same salary (~40m per year)
This time though, Jimmy sold us by fucking around and not playing preseason even once

He seemed to be all smiles in the off season, living it up overseas and posting hints about Dame. Then it all goes south and he:
Comes into training camp as an emo, misses the whole pre-season due to dental surgery (questionable scheduling), and mails in the first two games.
Jimmy is a pro, but I wouldn’t blame him for being pissed. He carried the organisation to the finals twice. His reward: 23mins of Dru Smith.
This is beyond embarrassing from Jimmy man ngl, love him but this was a winnable game even with how poor he played tonight against a really good team
