[Kurt Warner] Those ppl out there saying @brockpurdy13 is struggling aren’t watching the games… young man is playing some really good football – making all kinds of plays (not w/o mistakes, but who does)!!! Quit looking at stats – they should back the narrative, NOT create it!!

  1. For most football fans when they see an interception it wipes their memory and prevents them from looking at the whole game.

  2. Brock should cut his mistakes period no excuse. He also carried this team for 2 weeks in a row, with no support from O line, running game and defense. Kid had some of his best plays outside of
    those TO last two weeks.

Few 49ers aka Cowboys fans are throwing venom at the young QB, like Brock lost the game. To all of you all, Brock scored a TD making one score game, this is what great QB bounce back from bad plays. Other QBs all had a defense that gave the ball back with the same one score game, here this D gave the ball back with 2 score game.

Stop blaming Brock for last TO this game and last game, those are desperate plays, we had no chance to win that game. I blame Shanahan for putting Brock in that spot

  3. If Jimmy G was playing right now with this trash defense we’d be losing by a mile every game. Brock is carrying this team!

  4. He has played the best quarterback I’ve seen on the 49ers since Steve Young. He’s played better football than Jeff Garcia ever has. I don’t blame him for what’s going on right now.

  5. The media is going to shred this kid to bits and continue their narrative, some of its deserved, but the kid hasn’t even played 17 games yet. Most of the elite QBs have had way more INTs and shittier rookie seasons. He’s developing in real time on a national stage. He can only go up from here. Sure, it’s annoying as hell when we a Super Bowl caliber roster, but it’s a unique situation. Most “Super Bowl ready” teams have QBs who have worked through those kinks for the most part. Doesn’t help the O-Line is abysmal without Trent. Look at how many picks Mahomes has thrown this season, even Hurts. Dak is considered a good qb and he’s thrown more than I can even remember. Brock has thrown less than all of them this season. I’m not ready to look for another qb just yet, personally. With Jimmy, he was a 30 year old vet making these mistakes. Brock needs time. Unfortunately it has to happen with a season like this, but we most likely have the franchise qb of this team for a long, long time. Hopefully Kyle & co can pull another run together this season and they can shut up the talking heads in sports media, but we all know they’ll find something else to complain about.

  6. Multiple drives of Purdy being the ONLY thing that was working yesterday.

But this is a kid who’s barely started a full seasons worth of games and, oh has had invasive elbow surgery during that time.

I understand Purdys issues out there.

I don’t understand the Defense, I don’t understand the route errors, I don’t understand lack of rungame.

  7. I think a lot of people need to remember that he’s a 2nd year quarterback who didn’t start until half way through his first year.

He’s not prime Montana. He never was an MVP candidate.

    He’s good.
    He’s inexperienced.
    He’ll make great plays.
    He’ll make mistakes.

The problem right now is the other all-pros on the team aren’t doing what we’re used to seeing them do and make up for the mistakes.

The offense and defense have lose their identity recently. This team is built to physically beat the shit out of people and they aren’t doing that.

  8. Purdy was our whole offense for like 3 Qtrs.

Without him moving the Chains with his legs multiple times we’d not have sustained any drives given the penalties and lack of any run game.

Yes, the 2 INTs are bad but he made lots of plays yesterday that only a few QBs are capable of.

He’s 23.People need to chill a little bit.

  9. I hope he’s right, but this season feels like 2014 all over again. Arguments about Kap, offense, d and most of all coaching. Just a sour season that turned out horrific.

  10. Biggest question is what will Kyle do. If he goes back to the simplified Jimmy G playbook, that’s basically a vote of no confidence in the qb. That won’t be good for Brock’s growth and won’t be good for our title chances.

  11. He’s going to have to weather the storm, comes with being a Niner QB. Sink or swim. Call of the wild.

  12. Lol thank you! All the legends are watching the film and are saying he is good. The only ones that are saying he is bad are the fans that don’t watch film and look at td to interception ratio. How many sacks has Brock avoided this year because of his mobility? Kyle needs to cater his offense to the skill set of his team. More screens more rollouts and mix it up to dominate the laterals. The great coaches find a way to attack the whole field not just the fucking middle.

  13. He’s not wrong. But the turnovers are an issue, and to act like that’s not a problem is weird. This whole team has to do some soul searching and hard work during this Bye week and beyond.

  14. Those who stare at football are freaking out about his mistakes. Those who know ball understand hes making mistakes but hes also keeping them in the game.

  15. We are getting way more than our moneys worth out of Brock Purdy. He is make peanuts so that we can afford to spend money in other areas of the team. We shouldn’t need to rely on Brock to play hero ball all day long. If he was making 50 mil / year then sure, blame the loss on Purdy. He isn’t. How much is the D-line getting paid? Purdy was under way more pressure yesterday than Joe Burrow was, had no run game to help him, and was playing from behind all day. That is not a recipe for success with a kid at QB.

  16. I feel like a ton of fans here only see two games a year.

Purdy has been one of the best QBs the team has had since 2000s.

He makes plays that any other QB they had would have sacked on or floundered a throw to triple cover.

There was concerns with this line at the start of the season on the offense side. They have small run down field run blockers and lack the size for stopping a rush when you need to hold a pass protection. That is on the coaching zone run scheme.

It also hurts when your HoF talent left tackle is out

  17. People really thought the offense was loaded. It’s built to run using the scheme and neither is working anymore. They had 3, now 4, backup tier olinemen starting, there’s no true WR1, 2nd best WR is really a RB, TE1 is a lineman.

And now they want the last pick of the draft to not only bail them out of their draft mishaps but also carry the team with his arm using a run first offense and no pass protection because the supposedly elite defense that they went all in on is getting carved up at every level.

  18. i agree. I think the defense was really terrible yesterday and really couldnt stop the bengals.

49ers fell behind, then really need to start scoring and had to throw riskier and riskier throws. like the last int, the announcers were saying its very jimmy g int. it was something that shouldnt have been thrown. but we were in a position where we had to take some risk

  19. He’s still a rookie so his mistakes can really be attributed to that. He’s had little pass protection though since Trent has been taken out and his loss is certainly being felt. I wish our O-line could get away with holds like the Browns and the Vikings’ lines did.

  20. Our O-line is failing him and under pressure he has made some bad decisions. Not having Deebo isn’t helping.

Also, our defense has been playing so bad that Brock is being forced to try and make big plays to catch up.

  21. Purdy has been really good. He’s made some mistakes forcing the ball in places, but it’s been when the team has been down late in games.

Deebo and Trent are huge for this offense, those two create so many options that just aren’t there without them.

  22. Brock made game changing boneheaded mistakes

But his scrambling was the only reason why the niners got any points at all

Oline is mediocre WITH Trent, it’s downright bad without him. Without Trent I think it’s legit bottom 5 in the whole league

CMC has a shit ypc because of the oline, but also shanny’s poor coaching and load management is putting huge strain on cmc while he has mason and Mitchell to help carry the load but shanny isn’t giving them the ball

    Wideouts are dropping important passes

And of course, the defense just cannot get off the field. I’ll say that one TD against them doesn’t count because Purdy’s awful pick gave the bengals perfect field position, but 24 points is still not good when you consider the style they play. The niners gameplan is to run the ball, control clock, and reduce the number of drives both teams get.

The bengals had 10 drives. 1 was at the very end with 2 minutes left up 14 and they didn’t have to do anything. 1 was a gifted TD because Purdy pick. But they still scored on 4/8 of their other meaningful drives, and they also had a missed FG and a fumble at the 5 yard line (after a super long drive). So the defense really only got decent stops 25% of the time. That’s completely awful for any defense, let alone one that has this much invested money and draft capital.

Burrow went 28/32!!! That’s almost impossible to do during walkthroughs!!! And yet with supposedly 11 guys on defense, Burrow played like it was 7 on 7.

If jimmy g was the qb, he would’ve been sacked 10 times and we would’ve lost 50-0.

Again, Brock had awful mistakes. But he displays upside. And the entire team from top to bottom is bad.

What we really need to be worried about is Shanny and Lynch not giving Purdy an oline and focusing too much on “weapons” to actually give running lanes and Purdy time to throw. If Purdy can only survive by scrambling, it’s going to eventually fuck up his internal clock and his development.

  23. Bengals fan here, and this post was recommended to me.

I was at the game, Brock Purdy was balling out. Two bad throws in a row, but otherwise he giving our D fits. Y’all will be fine.

  24. “quit looking at the stats”

I’d say the stats actually make him look better than he was. He had over 400 yards by himself.

  25. He’s made some special, tight-window throws that only a handful of other QBs in the league can replicate consistently, but those picks came at really bad moments. Good news though – the sky isn’t falling, this is still a talented team, and there’s time to improve.

  26. Right before he threw that Int on Sunday he hit Aiyuk in the face-mask for a 1D. Can’t catch it for them.

  27. What does Kurt Warner know about being a qb? I, a guy on the internet, think we need to trade Purdy to Chicago for the first overall pick so we can get a real stud who doesn’t throw interceptions like Caleb Williams, and get them to throw in Mike Ditka’s (or whoever that linebacker was) ghost so he can empower our defense.

This is the only way to save the season.
