Why Doesn’t The Media Talk About the Seahawks Enough? | Pat McAfee Show

  1. After the Giants game, they talked for like 28 minutes about how bad the Giants looked and spent the last two minutes talking about why they don’t talk about the Seahawks. In his mind, it’s just so far away, and for some reason, geographic proximity is the main factor in deciding what teams to talk about. Despite the fact that Indianapolis is actually 40.2 miles closer to Seattle than Santa Clara, they will happily talk about the 49ers. The perception is that Seattle is way, way up there.
That’s one thing I actually really like about Pat McAfee. They are idiots, and don’t pretend not to be. But they say the quiet parts out loud. National talking heads don’t talk about Seattle because they don’t think about Seattle. At least he’s honest about it.

  2. At least he admits that he has been ignoring them. His opinions on college football are garbage but he has good NFL commentary

  3. The far away thing maybe a thing. Kind of like the Pac12, especially the NW teams.

  4. Seahawks vs Browns should have been nationally televised. Two good teams with good records. Seahawks almost always draw big ratings in prime time. And you had the splashy throwback jerseys that were lighting up social media. 90% of the media markets did not get this game.

Instead they kept the Bears vs Chargers snoozer on MNF, bad teams that have already had multiple disappointing prime time games.

  5. Mentioning stuff like the Carlos Dunlap trade and the PCJS marriage do a little bit to make up for ignoring the Hawks…

  6. They do, though? Maybe it’s just who I listen to, but the Ringer Shows, PFF show, TAFS, etc. all talk plenty about the Seahawks and it’s 90% positive stuff. Tons of Geno, Waldron, and Pete love. The PFF guys have practically been worshiping Spoon since he was a prospect and have not stopped building his temple since.

If you’re listening primarily to ESPN shows, then yeah, probably not on the radar as much but ESPN and FS1 have long-since ceased to be worthwhile watches so I prefer us not being talked about.

  7. The athletic and ringer nfl podcasts are pretty into them. Also Mina Kimes.

It’s so much better than the mid 00s when they were good but the only person in national media who gave them credit was John Clayton.

  8. It’s funny because over the years, Pat McAfee has been one of the few people who has actually covered our shit. He and Colin Cowherd.

Skip Bayless won’t even say the word “Seahawk”. I think he’s still traumatized from that Richard Sherman moment ten years ago.
