Goaltending is atrocious and offence not making up for it.
When you don’t do shit offseason, this is what happens. Missed a chance at Karlsson which would’ve helped the D
This is what happens when defence and goaltending are huge issues, but instead you load up on offence
I’m fine with the Oil sucking or winning, but would just like if McDrai stop being the leading scorers every season lol, sick of em winning.
No defensive structure, poor goaltending, and stars underperforming.
Hard to do much when nearly 40% of your cap is tied up with 3 players. Over 2/3’s on 8 guys. If any of them under perform you don’t have any wiggle room for improvements.
I’m amazed the head coach still has a job they are usually the first to go

Ken Holland has zero clue how to assemble a team in the salary cap era. He drafts for shit and overpays for vets way too often.

Hypothetically, If you were to trade McDavid for goaltending + defense what would that package deal look like? Sorokin + Dobson + Pelech? Too much? Too little?

The oilers lousy start seems almost too obvious in hindsight (as all things do)

Stuart Skinner 2022-2023 season stats: 50gp, .913sv% , 2.75GSS

So the goalies were never great. Well, maybe that doesn’t matter when Mcjesus and Leon combine for 281pts with an extra 104 from RNH.
But this season they aren’t winning games by themselves. The best one is hurt, and the oilers are losing games.
