We had an 8 game win streak in 2021?!

This can’t be true, why do I feel like we have been bad for so long?

  1. We had a very hot start and cooled off just as fast. Then Verbeek traded out the assets BM wasn’t willing to.

  2. They got hot right before the trade deadline. Eakins wore the same suit as good luck. Then they traded Manson, Lindholm and Rakell and it was down hill from there.

  3. Only 2 of those teams we beat made playoffs and we played a bunch more games than everyone else so we had this fake hope that we were good. Luckily PV realized we weren’t actually good and we were sellers at the deadline.

  4. Nah yeah, we had a great start to that season, but everything changed once the Injury and the All-Star Nation attacked.

  5. Gibson was absolutely standing on his head, they were barely playing much offense each game, and the goals they were scoring were pretty junky. I’ll take the current team over that one any day.

  6. The two bookends of the streak were Zegras’ OT goal and Getzlaf breaking the Ducks’ all-time points record. Pretty sweet streak it was

  7. It was the “sell current assets for futures” season before last year’s tank. So we still had some quality d-men and Rakell until the deadline, which rolled into a second half tank for the highest possible draft pick

  8. We were in a decent position as late as early December before the wheels came off. This team has had talent even if it wasn’t always leading to favorable results.

  9. Shrugs. They we 6th in the league with a 102.3% PDO at that time. They were getting lucky. Every team goes through lucky hot streaks occasionally. Getting amazing netminding, or having players shoot the lights out for a short period of time can paper over a lot of flaws.

  10. Very much having an active D joining the rush to start the season, then we stopped doing that and crashed. Then Eikins got Covid and we went great again including a big road trip. He came back and bam right back to the tank.
