Prepare for another disappointing season

We’re gonna give it a good ole “try” this year!

  1. I think optimistically we land Nola and pick up Wacha. Then trade for a middle of the road guy and we’re no better than last year

  2. The issue is that many other teams are also going to be after starters. There are about four difference makers on the market, and the bidding will be heavy from teams who spend money. Can the FO pull a rabbit out of the hat? Sure. Are the odds good that they end up with two truly quality starters? No. I am preparing for Severino and Lugo types. And maybe a project-type SP trade.

  3. Anyone who expects anything other than disappointment out of a Cardinals offseason is already a fucking moron so I’m not moved.

  4. This really is shaping up to be another year where Mo says one thing early on and then uses a word salad as he backtracks as the offseason plays out. Hopefully it’s not so.

To be fair though, Bill DeWitt Jr is the one to blame, it’s just Mo who has to deliver the bad news.

  5. Dream scenario:

Dewitt ponies up. Mo nuts up. Offers top dollar for Nola and yamamoto. Trades for gilbert without giving up too much, convinces Seattle O’Neil still has some juice. Walker spends all off-season in Jupiter becoming a hitting machine and working on his D.
    What could be better?
(Swap in snell, gray, cease, whoever you want)

    Most likely scenario:
We sign nola, trade the farm for cease, Donovan goes on a tear for the sox, we trade away buerlson to the yanks, he pops off for them, we lock in matz for the rotation out of necessity, and let thompson/liberatore/etc fight for the 5th spot. Walker spends his time in Jupiter eating chipotle burritos, can’t field.

  6. “The one thing I’d ask from our fan base right now is a little bit of patience, because we do think that we do have the talent to win.”
