  1. God no.

Why in the world would we trade three top prospects for
    – A clubhouse cancer who can’t field any position and hasn’t played more than 120 games since 2019
    – A pitcher nearing FA who has an outlier year in 2022 and then immediately regressed in 2023

Those three are who you send for Juan Soto. Not that.

This trade simulator is so laughably bad but people still post it continually lol

  2. Dumb. As. Hell.

No fucking way, man. Good god. A team with a lack of pitching depth should never be trading their top pitching prospect, and that’s not even getting into how damn dumb it is to trade your top 3B prospect without a single experienced option to fill that spot without him.

  3. I think we need to keep Vasil. He will be at minimum important pitching depth next year. I’d substitute a lesser prospect than him. I don’t like Eloy as a player tbh. As you can see, BTV says his value is below his salary, although BTV is not exactly gospel.

  4. Although trading for cease would send the franchise back 5 years, People are leaving out the fact that baty and parada are heading near bust territory

  5. Why are so many fans in love with our shitty prospects? Do you understand how much more value a 2-3 starter will have to the Mets than a backup catcher, a bust prospect and another Peterson/Megill type AAAA arm?

I’m not advocating trading anybody that is good at baseball. I’m saying trade Baty, Parada and Vasil because they’re trash.

  6. Unless it’s for Soto or the like, I think we should be taking a wait and see approach with higher profile trades this offseason. We just revamped our farm system but we’re honestly still not there yet to do the type of wheeling and dealing the dodgers do while retaining high level farm depth for the major league level. If this is a light reset year, we should wait until we know where we stand at the deadline before making a big time deal. This offseason should be about free agent acquisitions and then hopefully starting next offseason we can rely less on free agency and have a steady pipeline of players coming through the minors and the ability to make bigger trades.

  7. You’re getting dragged in here but if we weren’t lacking in anyone who could play 3B, this is relatively fair imo.

Kevin Parada is not a major leaguer. I am nearly certain of that. I am also nearly certain he is not going to stay at catcher. Mike Vasil, I totally agree with you is a AAAA arm.

With that said, Baty’s upside is large and I do not think he is a bust yet. I would like to see what the new regime does with him and give him a shot next year. His value can’t go down anymore than it currently is.

Kevin Parada is totally meaningless and Vasil is a mid-tier prospect at best, and I’d do this trade in a second if we had a suitable Baty replacement.

I’d honestly do this deal if you swap Baty for Acuna, which will get me downvotes but this sub is in love with his name and vastly overrating his upside. Acuna’s ceiling is incredibly average imo.
