  1. Dick Allen hit .308/.420/.603 in 1972, which were lead leading marks in all three categories. He also lead the league in home runs (37), RBIs (113), walks (99), and OPS+ (199). Allen’s MVP year in ‘72 is the greatest hitting season for any Sox first baseman not named Frank.

    Also, fun fact: Allen got a reputation as a troublemaker for punching out a teammate when he was on the Phillies early on in his career. That teammate’s name was Frank Thomas. Different one, obviously.

  2. VERY cool! This guy was my Dad’s favorite player back then. I have his signed black & white 8 x 11. Great player with a colorful backstory.
