Shohei Ohtani Rumors: Angels Free Agent ‘Would Be Very Intrigued’ to Play for Braves

Thoughts?!

  1. I would love Shohei Othani in a Btaves uniform, but I’ve always assumed he would prefer to stay on the west coast.

  2. I too ā€œwould be very intriguedā€ for Shohei Ohtani to play for the Braves. Iā€™d even go as far to say Iā€™d be delighted.

  3. I’m very intrigued by the prospect of dating a model and I think I have a better shot at that than Shohei being a Brave.

  4. A Reliable, no drama organization could be tempting to someone of his reputable personal code. Although itā€™s always hard to argue with generational money, I think he will more than make up for any loss with endorsements here AND in Japan. Perhaps for him, there actually is a cap to wealth.

Another point to consider is how he reportedly wanted a community with at least some Japanese footprint. Is that familiarity still important to him or is he more comfortable in the US now where that wonā€™t be a problem? If the latter, perhaps we have a chance

Iā€™m talking myself into this lmao

  5. Letā€™s be honest, translating from Japanese that could very well mean no chance Iā€™d go there.

  6. Hear me out everyone, I majored in Girl Math. According to my calculations, if Ohtani signs a $500M contract with the Braves, thatā€™s a measly $5M donation to the Braves Foundation. I wouldnā€™t even get out of bed for $5M. But what about this, a $1 BILLION dollar contract to sign with the Braves, that way the Braves foundation get a whole $10 MILLION donation (and win 5 World Series in a row). Do the Braves care about philanthropy or not?!?

  7. As much as weā€™d all love this we all collectively know heā€™s gonna be a Dodger most likely right? West coast with best chance to win. Heā€™ll at least get a chance to see the playoffs there

  8. We would be crazy not to throw out an offer of say $250 million. I expect others will be willing to pay double what we would and thatā€™s ok. Weā€™re one of the few places where he would be purely a luxury not a need.

  9. This is probably just being rumored by his camp to drive up the price. But what if itā€™s notā€¦..

  10. Sohei Ohtani deserves to get paid and play for a contender. We are arenā€™t paying him a half a billion dollars or whatever so thatā€™s out. Most of me wants to see him get paid and succeed.

Theres a tiny troll in me though that wants to see him get paid 500 million by the Mets and they just miss the playoffs again.

  11. Would it be possible instead of giving him more money per year to give him some ownership of the organization since itā€™s not privately owned? I donā€™t know much about that side of business I just read that would be a possibility.

  12. This is the only FA that every single team should shell out 500 million plus. You will get most of that paid from the ripple effect of having Ohtani on your team. He’s a very low risk guy for the reward of starting a dynasty, having an ace, and top 5 hitter in the league at the same time. I’m sure this rumor has 0 credibility, but AA should absolutely give him WHATEVER he asked for if he had even the slightest interest in the braves. You cannot pass up an opportunity like this

  13. AA doesnā€™t sign anyone for a single cent over $23MM AAV. So no. Not happening. Heā€™s a Dodger or Giant and thatā€™s that.

  14. Tinfoil hat time – not paying Dansby $25MM annually and not extending Fried at $30MM+ per year was 4-D chess to sign Ohtani all along.

  15. I kind of hope we sign him so r/baseball can just have a meltdown again and tell us that we canā€™t keep getting away with this

  16. Maaaan, if all you gotta do to work for a baseball news site is get high and come up either random nonsense, I am in the wrong profession.
