I guess I can’t blame them for trying, but complete waste of time on their part.
There’s no way in fuck that MCDC is voluntarily jumping off this train now that it’s left the station like a Bat Out Of Hell.

This is the price of success, but good luck trying to lure away our best. These are the Detroit Lions were talking about. There’s no better job in all of sports.
They would have been stupid as hell not to ask but I’m pretty sure they knew the answer. Dan Campbell is on a possible path of an all time legend in detroit. The NFL also doesn’t have recruiting and all the side bullshit that goes with college.
Praise be! I couldn’t handle it, I live an hour away from College Station and the remote possibility had me in shambles.
To the surprise of no one with half a brain. Which coincidentally excludes most of A&Ms fan base and donors.

Head coaching job for a major university isnt a football job, it’s a recruiting job and a salesman job. He doesn’t seem like he’s suited for that role
MCDC leaving to go coach a college team right now would be one of the all time worst moves in Detroit sports history.
Hype is at an all time high this season and the Lions fan base is completely attached to Campbell and believes in him and how integral he (and Brad) have been to turning the franchise around.
If Campbell were to leave after this season it would literally undermine everything he’s ever said about what he wants to do in Detroit and it would cause a huge loss of faith in the org from the fan base.
Furthermore, even including Dan on the list shows how grossly incompetent the brass is at Texas A&M. To think that a coach would jump ship from the Lions with where things are at right now is insane. He’s literally the leading candidate for NFL coach of the year and his team is playing for possibly the #1 seed in the NFC. Certainly seems like the perfect time to state that he’s on their ‘list” of candidates. And if nothing else, to do this in the middle of the season and plant any seeds of doubts as to where Dan’s loyalties and long term commitments are is unfair to a city that’s been begging for a good coach for decades and is finally on the cusp of doing something in the postseason after decades and decades of futility.
Absolutely delusional. My guess is Jerry Jones paid someone on the Texas A&M staff to put his name in there to distract him from the season we are having.

I’m not sure that Dan Campbell would even make a good College coach to begin with, he has never coached at the collegiate level and there is a difference is skill sets needed to succeed at both levels, for every Pete Carrol or Jim Harbaugh that can make the switch between the two levels, there’s a Nick Saban or Urban Meyer who couldn’t.
“So you guys want to keep Ben Johnson on for the 2024 season, right? We have the perfect solution to make that happen.”
It is my assumption that MCDC has not bought a drink or paid for his own meal in the metro area in at least a year.
