  1. Begging for your 2nd and 3rd round picks to “come good” is very much a Falcons fan mindset while other franchises get immediate production.

  2. We were 4-10 in 2020 before Terry. The last two seasons we went 7-10 and this season is shaping up to be similar. Them some bootleg fireworks Terry.

  3. > The defense is the 10th-oldest in the league by average age, so while it has been great to see marked improvement, the odds are that they’ll need significant reinforcements before the overall roster is competitive.

This is the biggest issue. We are built like we are competitive now, but we aren’t.

  4. Fair, but liable to see sharp improvement imo and I think he stays if smith is fired. There hasn’t been an easy answer to the QB situation so far in his tenure. In 2021 they had so little cap space that drafting a QB while Matt Ryan has three years on his contract and they’re adjusting Grady Jarrett’s contract just so they can sign their picks? Not a great idea, they needed something that could give immediate production. The 2022 class is turning out to be historically awful, but giving ridder a shot was probably the right move, and 2023 wouldn’t have been worth the trade to the bears or cards for what they had.

The FA signings have been good, bringing in some key contributors that have elevated this defense, but I think we’ll need to do some building in the trenches this draft and get younger. Dee Alford and Jeff Okudah have been locking down the secondary far above expectations, and I think ppl don’t give him enough credit for him on that. He’s also had some key late round draft hits that have added critical depth

  5. He’s done a good job with free agents. TD really struggled with that at times.

The draft has been very on brand for the Falcons.

  6. This is about right for him. But a GM cannot survive just by hitting by paying top tier FAs, hitting on a few late rounders, and then finding a few good trades and UDFAs. You have to hit at a good rate in the early parts of the draft to change your team.

  7. You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. “Terry?!” you say laughing, “Terry’s a girls name!” Without any hesitation, Terry pulls out a gun and shoots you dead. You have died of dissin’ Terry 🙁

  8. GMs a hard position to evaluate draft-wise because a lot of the players are dependent on the coaches, their scheme and who they like. Richie Grant for example was a classic Dean Pees player. Pees requires safeties to know how to play high and near the line of scrimmage which is why we probably took Grant, who had experience at both, over Moehrig who only played high his whole career.

Having said that, Terry does need to work on his drafting or at least bring in someone to compliment his FA skills. He has a pro scout background and that’s where his strength lies. But we have to draft better if he wants to stick around
