  1. Coach responded – “I think seven weeks is enough time to show consistency, you know, and be the high performer that we expect him to be. I know he has had some good performances along this year. Certainly the last few have been solid, and we expect consistency out of all our positions.”

  2. I think the fans and the current management/coaching have very different views on what Justin needs to do to keep his job

  3. It’s definitely enough time, but he actually has to deliver. If the Bears have a top 2 pick, then it’s tough to pass on a QB if there are any questions remaining about Justin.

  4. Mitch in his last 7 as a Bear had 14 TDs to 6 INTs, 3 games over 100 passer rating and 1700 passing yards. Went 5-2 and made the playoffs

He was gone in favour of the 4th QB off the board. And that was under an organisation who had chosen Trubisky and used draft capital to acquire him. This regime did not choose Fields

Fields is gone bar a miracle. He’d need to have 5 of the 7 best games of his career.

  5. In fairness that’s an actual question I might have to pause a sec to think about.

And Eberflus answer seems really solid for a change. Credit where credit is due.

  6. I need 300 passing yards 5 times tbh, I need a 4-3 record MINIMUM, and I need at least a 2:1 TD to turnover ratio (including fumbles)

  7. Fileds needs to protect the football and he needs to not take sacks. If he does that the rest will work itself out. Do not say he can’t because that is what Bagent did. And if Bagent can do it, Fields should be able to do it.

  8. I’m a Fields believer, but even if I wasn’t, I would be preparing for him to be back as the starter next year. New England/Giants are so bad that I think the Panthers pick drops a bit (they have an ‘easy’ schedule going forward) and I don’t see Poles trading up for a QB.

  9. If Fields looks very good, you have to just roll with him and draft MHJ + Fashanu.

Anything short of very good and you will have to pick QB at 1.

By very good I mean he looks like a top 10 QB passing the ball and has stats to back it up. Elite yardage aided by rushing won’t be good enough.

  10. If Trubisky and the better bears team couldn’t take us to the promised land why would a worst QB with a worst team and staff be able to do it?

  11. We will draft a QB the god awful coaching staff will convince everyone it’s a QB issue and we’ll start talking about how he sucks and we need to draft a new one.

  12. I was a very optimistic on Fields going into the past two seasons, but the reality is we’re in the midst of the worst run in Bears history. He’s not the long term answer. The coaching staff takes some blame. They gotta go but there’s absolutely no way you’re paying big time starting QB money after next season.

Pick up his option, get a new coaching staff , and draft a QB in 2024

  13. So honest question, fields does not ball out to your expectations and the bears select a qb in the draft. Who is qb2? The bears still hold fields contractual rights. He also wouldn’t make a ton of money next year. Bagent did enough to prove he has quality NFL backup skills.

  14. Kind of sucks but I’d REALLY love to see the Bears grab Marvin Harrison Jr…..I feel like as long as you have him and DJ Moore, if Fields doesn’t work out or snap out of it, all you really need is an above average quarterback to plug and play, and we’d be averaging 35+ points a game.

  15. It usually takes 35-45 games to see if a QB has it or not. He has played 35 games. He showed flashes last year, let’s see how he does the final 7.
