If George were alive today Bryce Harper would be a Yankee and so would Ohtani by the end of this off-season. The only truly Yankee-like move I can remember them making since his passing was trading for Stanton. Signing Cole could also be considered, but that felt more obvious at the time.
The old Yankee way isn’t real anymore, but tbh there were a lot of mistakes they’d make by acting that way. Now that disparity between other large market payrolls isn’t there to make up for it so it would honestly be difficult to run that way every single off-season.
