Brock has a 17-game sample now — In case you didn’t know, he’s really good

Per the athletic – “Counting Purdy’s early entry replacing Garoppolo against the [Miami Dolphins](https://theathletic.com/nfl/team/dolphins/) in Week 13 of last season and discounting the NFC Championship Game, during which he started 4-for-4 before tearing his UCL, Purdy now has 17 complete games under his belt. Over that stretch, he has thrown for 4,183 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His passer rating of 110.6 would lead the NFL by wide margins in both 2022 and 2023. The only better passer ratings over a full season in 49ers’ franchise history have come from Joe Montana in 1988 (112.4) and Steve Young in 1994 (112.8). Both of those seasons ended in Super Bowl victories for San Francisco.”

Awesome.

  1. 5 super bowls and HOF incoming. But since he was drafted later than Brady, you can add another 7 super bowls.

  2. You’re saying he’s…

    … Purdy good?

  3. I think part of what generates the negativity toward Purdy is he started at such a high level and never looked like a glassy eyed rookie. This immediately put him into comparison with established QBs – especially after besting Brady in his first start.

Plus his last in draft position make some people skeptical that he could have sustained success. If he really was good, why did every team – including SF pass on him until the last pick. I believe the talk around him would be more positive if he was drafted higher.

  4. I think a QB needs around 30 games to really get an idea of who he is.

That being said Brock looks really….really….fucking good.

If he continues this pace or even regresses slightly id be extremely happy

Folks, help me out here: were these two other guys any good, really?

That stat line made me chuckle a bit, not going to lie 😂 Still a long way to go, but I’m really liking what I’m seeing game after game from Brock.

  6. Purdy’s been unbelievably good. We lucked into a great QB but now he’s gotta prove it to the rest of the NFL and that will take a lot of time.

  7. I do hope we have struck big here and actually found a franchise guy who will be consistently good for the team for the long term.

  8. If Alex Smith had Harbaugh earlier on, or a Kyle-type coach and supporting cast, he would’ve done better. The ownership, coaching, and FO were a mess before Harbaugh came.

  9. After 3 losses this sub was not having any positive Brock talk, nice to see the haters take a week off.

  10. If someone took those stats and put Trey Lance’s name under them, The entire fanbase will be equating him to the next coming of Mahomes.

  11. #1 of 339 with 400+ pass attempts in each passer rating, QBR, and completion %.

Not bad for a mid QB

  12. You know who should be kissing the ground Brock walks on? Shanahan & Lynch. They lucked the fuck out by hitting on BCB. The Trey Lance experiment was an absolute disaster that could have set the franchise back YEARS. Everybody is so busy looking at the shiny toy that Brock is, forgetting about how we narrowly missed a catastrophe.

I’m not hatin. I’m a big Shanny and Lynch fan. However it can’t be understated how the play of Purdy has saved their asses!
