  5. The Devils players know that every game against the Rangers is the ECF to their fan base and play accordingly. It’s pathetic, but it’s been true for a long time. This game didn’t have to be so close, though. Before tonight, I’ve never really thought of the Rangers as a slow team but watching them try to beat NJD at their own game, like it’s still 2020, made me realize that they are. If they’d played *their* game, the structured and hard-nosed but still creative game that’s lead to this seasons early record, this game would’ve never been so close.

    Hopefully they don’t fall into that trap again, but glad to see everything worked out tonight. It was a fun one and it’ll help shut up some of the haters. LGR!

  6. I’d just like to say Zac Jones played great tonight. He basically set up that last goal and wasn’t a defensive liability.

  9. Some of the blame for the way Panarin has played the last 2 years has to go to Panarin himself, for sure… but it sure is easy to point the through line of:

    – David Quinn: he’s sick, top 10 forward in the league every year

    – Gerard Gallant: PP merchant, always racks up points, but especially in the playoffs I’m so underwhelmed with the lack of play driving. Empty calories.

    – Peter Laviolette: is he gonna f around and win the Hart at 32 years old?

  16. Without Fox and Chytil. Granted the NJD didn’t have Hischier, but still. Love what they are doing. This adversity is going to make them stronger. The Rangers are a problem right now.

  18. I was ready to talk about how this game had “loss” written all over it. 5 days off, first game back for Shesty, Jack back in for them.

    This team is just different. Defies all of our typical Rangers expectations and I love it

  27. Gotta be honest. After a full week of no games I thought they would’ve lost the hot hand and ultimately lost the game. Thank fuck I was wrong.

    Hartemi Panarin is a force of goddamn nature right now. Dude is playing the best hockey of his Rangers career, quite possibly his professional career. It’s insane to see how different his play is right now compared to last season.

    Shesty was a little rusty tonight, but when you haven’t played for 16 games, I think it’s kinda understandable, especially since he shut the doors for the third act of the show.

    Dare I say all three periods were solid hockey? Some were slightly worse but overall I feel they came out to play for the whole game.

    Anywho, fuck the refs as usual, fuck the Devils and see you beautiful people on Monday!

  29. Coaching matters. Firing Gallant and hiring Laviolette was THE best offseason love this team made.
