  1. Was trying to remember who my least favorite announcer crew was last year and was quickly reminded that it was these 2 Kings announcers. They are unbearable.

Shamelessly cheering for their team and talking shit about the other team like they are two dudes at a bar.

Luka gives a forearm shove: “gave him a forearm there, obvious foul, the refs missed an easy one”
Sabonis gives a forearm shove: “bully ball, gotta get ya weight up Powell”

    Just bitter Kings fans

  2. This team is clearly better than last year and is going to make the playoffs but not good enough to make the conference finals currently in my opinion. We either need to make a trade or fire baldy. I just dont see how our defense is still this bad when the personnel is clearly better. Is it a coaching issue? Holmes being a garbage time player because of Powell is just flat out disrespectful. Ive kept the Kidd hate to a minimum because the team has been winning but ITS BACK ON NOW. IM TIRED OF SEEING THIS TEAM LOSE TO GOOD TEAMS. #FIREKIDD

  3. we are ass on defense ok but i rly dont like the overhelping overswitching stuff from kidd that’s why your 3defense is ass we are always behind on switch because ball move faster then player

  4. Last night was the one to win, you could see in the 2nd half we didn’t have the energy the Kings did

  5. It’s 2.52AM here in Scotland,

I’m a mess of emotions, kidding. The team is just horrid defensively.

  6. The trend of stomping bad teams and losing to good ones isnt great. This was a back to back but in totality it’s not good. Still think the team is improved but not good enough to do anything serious

  7. Beat tomato cans and lose to actual basketball teams. Looks like a .500 team with a soft schedule to start the season.

  8. The defense is excruciatingly horrible to watch.

Team got marginally better than last year.

If they keep beating up on worse teams, we’ll be in the 5th-8th seed hunt.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

  9. If you add this whole teams defensive capabilities individually you may get 1 neutral defender not even positive

  10. Awful awful defense. I know this roster isn’t exactly loaded with good defenders, but at some point coaching has to take some blame there.

  11. Dwight Powell can’t play a single more minute in this team AS I’VE BEEN SAYING FOR FUCKING YEARS. I despise that motherfucker with all my soul. Single handedly makes me hate basketball. For several years sometimes I legitimately don’t tune on games specifically so I don’t have to endure watching his bum ass play basketball.

ENOUGH. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. PLEASE. Want to rip my fucking eyes out when I watch that trash can of a player on a Mavs uniform.

  12. It’s a back to back so being gassed by the 2nd half should be expected. There are obvious issues with this team as it is though

  13. Saw only minuses from this game.

    – Sabonis destroyed us

-Players have 0 ability to stop fast guards like Fox/Monk

-Luka again got into his head with refs ( i dont care if he is right he cant just do that every fkn night). Get that kid a sport psychologist at this point.

-Our whole offense has 0 ball movement just Luka/Kyrie pnr into iso action and then they kickout to cold shooters. Predictable and ugly to watch

-Kings and Bucks showed us that we are in play in category not even close to contenders.

  14. If we have to make 20 threes and shoot 55% just to stay in games (not necessarily win) because our defense/rebounding is nonexistent, then this team has a low ceiling.

Nico has to make a trade for another defender and a center who can contribute.

  15. So we had offseason to improve rebounding and defense, we didnt do neither.

    Team is too small.

    23-4 second chance points..

  16. I know you probably don’t want to hear from a Kings fan after this one, but just wanted to say I really enjoyed your announcers. They seem super unbiased given that they’re announcing for a specific team and seemed to know a good amount of information about our team! Really was nice to hear good announcers after listening to the Warriors guys last night lol.

  17. It’s fascinating to see the regression this team has had, defense wise.

Kidd seemed like he had done the impossible when we made the WCF.

Was it all a fluke? How does one team buy in, in the first year and then goes back to what we were used to during the Carlisle years? We could talk about all night long about matchups, player’s profiles and whatnot, we still should be much better than this defensively.

    I don’t get it.

  18. If the Raptors, more specifically Masai, sells at the deadline put everything on the table for OG and if we can snag Jakob along that’ll be great. Obviously Luka, Kai, and D-Live are exceptions to this.

  19. Frustrating fact: By the time Powell’s recent contract ends, that would mark him staying for the Mavs for 12 seasons (which can still be longer if for some reason they decide to bring him back again), longer than all time greats in Mavs roster history LOL.

  20. Teams can straight bully us in the paint cause they know Lively has that rookie whistle and there is no suitable replacement after him. I know a lot of the defense is on the players, but I think the scheme isn’t working either. It’s always an easy paint bucket or a wide open 3. The guys aren’t fast enough to cover the open guy.

  21. The Mavs and Kings are both extremely elite offensively. The difference is that the Kings play enough defense too, which is why they were a solid playoff team last season. Meanwhile, the Mavs don’t play much defense it seems so while they have gotten off to a 9-5 start because of their offense, it’s not looking very sustainable.

  22. As a guy who’s favorite NFL team is the Seahawks and favorite NBA team is the Mavericks, this has been a very bad night for me

  23. Ya it’s a tough back to back but once again, our two stars are scoring and creating enough. They don’t have enough help on the wing and defense is what severely limits the ceiling of this team.

  24. Because of Powell I might have to stop watching basketball and spend more time doing more productive things 😂 This guy is an embarrassment to the sport.

  25. This roster is not capable of playing even mediocre defense against good offenses. It just isn’t. Now that the schedule has gotten harder, we all see that last year’s issues remain with this year’s team. Tonight’s loss was indistinguishable from the pile of losses to end last season: great stats for Luka and Kyrie while we get run out of the gym.

Even acquiring Grant and drafting Lively – two highly impressive front-office moves – has not moved the needle in a meaningful way. Obviously Lively will mature into more of a defensive “anchor” in the years to come (and he is still of course better than last year’s options), but this is our reality for the time being.

I have said this on here repeatedly: the Mavs need to trade one of Green or Hardy, or both of them. They are the only guards behind Luka and Kyrie with legitimate trade value, and this roster configuration plainly makes no sense. We have to acquire bigger forwards and frontcourt players.

This is the path the front office chose to go down in trading for Kyrie. You simply have to overload on defense-first wings and frontcourt players to mask the backcourt’s deficiencies on the defensive end. We will soon be fighting to be in the 7-10 seed range if we keep this roster as is.

Luka, Kyrie, THJ, Green, Hardy, Curry. What are we doing with this logjam? THJ is dominating as a 6th man off the bench and seems a perfect fit to keep our offense in truly elite territory through each game. After that, we have guys who just aren’t helping our cause – and in the case of Green it’s unfortunate because he’s a great energy role player, we just literally have to play two guards other than him for 35+ mins/game each and he’s too small to play SF.
