  1. Sounds like we are trying to skate by and stay above .500 to see what the trade deadline holds.

  2. I was with everyone saying “give them time” but… what are we supposed to think now?? It doesn’t matter how many innings they throw if they lose us the game by the 3rd inning. And why bother making the postseason if you have no pitchers to match up against the best teams? I’m dumbfounded.

  3. If I were Nolan I’d be pissed. Love the long term investments into the team coming out of the FO 🙃

  4. People here thought we were gunna be competitive next year. We absolutely shouldve traded Arenado and Goldy

  5. Two of the top ten free agents (outside of the top 50 free agents) available this summer, job well done, Mo!

  6. Did we really just not even try to pursue Aaron Nola who re-signed for 24M AAV and then turnaround and sign two absolutely washed pitchers for 22M combined?

  7. “Oh stewardess, what’s the in-flight movie for today?”

“Oh, I think you’ll like it. It’s called, *We’ll Never Make a Deep Run in the Playoffs Again* , and it’s preceded by the award-winning short, *No More Pennants for Me, Ever* “

  8. Nobody with a functioning brain should try and justify these moves. Even the most kool-aid drinking hyper-optimists have to look at the past two days and admit this team just doesn’t fucking care anymore. Let’s replace our old, shitty rotation with an old, shitty rotation of guys with Missouri connections.

If I ever see Mo crossing Poplar I will run him off the bridge.

  9. Hilarious, unsurprising, rage inducing… a bundle of emotions.

Even the PR press is at a loss right now. Trash.

  10. According to Alexa he helped us win the 2011 world series. I don’t know how he did that as a member of the Minnesota Twins AAA affiliate, but you never know with the butterfly effect and all.

Clearly we are winning it all this year.

  11. Honestly, Gibson at $12 million is a really solid deal. In general, 1 WAR equals about $9 million on the open market, and Gibson is consistently around 2 WAR or better. He eats innings and will give you a chance to win on most nights. He’s coming off of a 4.13 FIP, nearly 200 innings, and 15 wins (for those who care about that). A pitcher of his caliber usually isn’t available for a single season and at that price.

It makes the Lynn signing that much more head-scratching, though. Gibson is significantly better than Lynn, so why are they making similar dollars? Lynn’s signing is for just enough money to stop STL from signing a big-name starter. There’s no world where Lynn + Wacha are better than Snell or Montgomery + one of the pitching prospects.

  12. Why is everyone upset about Gibson? I understand he’s not a flashy name, but he eats innings and has been durable. He’s a back end starter but that doesn’t make it a bad signing just a boring one.

  13. “The one thing I’d ask from our fan base right now is a little bit of patience, because we do think that we do have the talent to win.”

  14. I’m going to take this opportunity to announce I’m also a free agent. I’m looking for 5 million a year and will pitch until the 7th inning no matter what.

  15. Cubs fans right now hoping to land Ohtani…while Cardinals fans get this shit. FFS Mo…at least lie to us for a while and tell us you’re going to go after big names.

  16. Let’s non-tender young 0.5 War 4.93 ERA pitcher because $4M is too high to pay and then turn around and pay $12M for a 36 year old 0.9 War 4.73 ERA pitcher. #MoGotToGo

  17. You don’t need to invest as much in a bullpen if you’ve got 36 year old innings eaters regularly pitching 6 innings (5 earned runs) *taps head*
