It would be different if soto was the only missing piece but the offense needs a few bats. If they spent the money in free agency and bolstered the fuck out of the lineup and soto was the cherry on top, it would be worth considering.
But until they take those initial steps, lol no.
That seems like a lot for one year of Soto.
If that were to happen we would need to extend Soto as part of the deal
I looked at this and only read the highlighted names and thought that was pretty good
soto/julio/JK would be fun but not for that cost
Only if this directly resulted in a long term deal with Soto.
I will take it.
Imagining that rotation is giving me butterflies
I would do Hancock, Clase and Marlowe but I doubt that would get r done. That price is a little high for my taste
Absolutely not. Absolutely not. No, just no. Overpay for fucking Bellinger at that point.
To be clear: not opposed to trading ANY of those guys to win now, but I can do way way way better than 1 year of Soto for that. ESPN baseball coverage is more of a steaming pile of shit than what comes out of my dog’s ass. Lazy journalism.
Remember: the Padres are the ones that need to trade Soto. If they want to overvalue 1 year of him, let them be in the bind of having to pay him next year.
Mariners will again play it safe. Profits will not be in danger!
I love Juan Soto. So much. But that’s the kind of move you make when you lose in 7 in the ALCS and feel like he’ll get you over the hump THIS year.
I’m not saying it’s an unfair price, but I’m saying Harry Ford will only be worth more in a year or two, so I’d prefer to keep him.
Woo and Ford can us get more than one year of Soto.

I know it’s not going to happen, and even if it does, we won’t sign him to a long term deal since he wants to test free agency, but could you imagine Julio and Soto and 2 and 3 for the next 5+ years.
Woo + Cade and Prelander sure, but even then that’s considered an overpay on the M’s part by Baseball Trade Values. It’s only one year of Soto and there’s a good shot Woo/Miller could be swapped with one of the Reds/Orioles/Cards position players with similar years of control.
Take Harry Ford off that list and I’m ok with the trade, otherwise it’s too much for what would likely be a one year rental.
That is a laughable overpay for one year of Soto.. I understand he’s an incredible player and that’s what might end up being required to get him in a trade, but hard pass. Highest Id go honestly is like.. Hancock + Gabby, which won’t be enough and that’s fine.
I’m not giving up that much for 1 year of anyone.
Take out Ford and I think I do it. But even ford straight up for a year of Soto is too much for me.
