Considering he picked us to win the cup, he’s been following us closely and brings up some good points to hopefully calm down the “doomers”

I think its a pretty apt assessment and likely a good suggestion on goaltending
This guy has the coverage of an ocean but the depth of a puddle. Its just how its gonna be when you try to cover everything in the league every night as a single guy.
His overall assessment is right – we have too much focus on offense and we’re letting in too many goals because of bad defense. His recommendations are not. Anything short of an top tier goalie will not fix this because they’re still gonna need to play out of their mind to cover all the breakdowns. The entire team needs to be coached differently. Play more conservatively in our zone. Pass more cleanly. Slow the game down a bit and use everyone’s speed when there’s an opportunity instead of forcing it and giving up an odd man rush because the play wasn’t thought out. Hell, we’re one of the fastest teams in the league and somehow have issues getting back to our own zone in time if a turnover happens past center ice
I do agree with his point about needing to structure the team in a way that one person being hurt doesn’t kill the entire team, that’s a given
if you use plus/minus but don’t even look at expected goals against to judge defense you’re never going to come to an accurate conclusion
